No more running to the post office after every eBay auction.

Now I can just put the box in my mailbox.

This not true. All parcels sent through the USPS must be hand delivered to a Postal employee so you will still have to go to the Post Office and hand deliver your packages. You local route carrer is not required and will not pickup parcels deposited in residential mail boxes. You can schedule a pickup but the USPS charges $10.25 per pickup ($12.95 starting Sunday). If you drop your parcels in a mail box outside your P.O they may not get delivered at all as they now treat all parcels dropped of at unmanned stations as suspicious mail.

GetReal: That's not entirely true. Parcels up to 16 ounces can still be placed in any public mailbox (where mail is generally picked up). Items weighing 16 ounces or more must be taken to the post office.

That shipping label with free delivery confirmation works great, use it with all my Ebay auctions. However, you need to get the address exactly right to match their databse otherwise it won't create the label. Never tried the postage thing since you have to go to the PO anyway.

Rough day? He was referring to the online labels part which has been going on for quite a while.

REPOST: New USPS online printing, delivery confirmation still free

And as for the online postage part. Theyve been doing that for more than just a week and a half.

REPOST: USPS Shipping Just Got Better

There really isnt anything wrong with requesting that people do a search first since it makes more sense to read what others have been saying rather than start new discussions every few days.

emonkey, looking back at your links I see someone posted a link for free 8.5x11 adhesive labels from Airborne Express, also free padded envelopes here.. I suppose Airborne Express would probably care if I used there free padded envelopes to protect items I send in free USPS priority mail boxes.

Some more misinformation from the almighty GetReal. I have put mine (2-5 lbs) in my mailbox everyday for a couple weeks now and everyone has been delivered within a couple days. If I have too many to fit in the mailbox and I see the mailman I give them to him. He took 17 packages today. I would say YMMV depending on your carrier.

GetReal- I never got your reply in the upromise thread.

You are correct as per the USPS current policy. However, there are many POs including most in northern NJ that have signs on the Blue collection boxes outside the POs that - "First Class Mail Only - All parcels deposted in these boxes will be destroyed". Unless you ship infrequently (1-2 parcels a week) it is still much cheaper to use private package services once you exceed the 1lb rate anyway. All the USPS does is strip away all the features that private carriers provide with their base rate and then charge you to add these services back to your shipment. After Saturday, all Priority Mail over 1lb will be zoned so any competitive edge that the USPS offered to locations such as Hawaii , Alaska and even cross-county will disappear and in some cases such as Hawaii even double at the 2lb rate. The 1lb rate will remain unzoned until later this year. The 1lb rate will increase from $3.50 to $3.85 . If you are a legit business, FedEx ground will match the USPS Priority Mail rates so there is really no reason to use the USPS for package services.

As usual VAG is full of sh@t. The Service Guide on the USPS Site clealy states their positon that I reiterated word for word. You cannot deposit packages in a residential mailbox peiod!

BTW - I responded to your lies in the Upromise thread withan Adobe Acrobat document direct from Soloman Smith Barney about thedisadvantages of a 529 over a trust. That document backs up everything I posted. I guess you can not go back and edit the PDF files like you did you posts and them claim you were right. You never provided a link to a 529 toaallows withdrawals by the beneficiary as you claimed. Hoewever, in you case it is irrelevant because any member with your gene pool is dstined for the nearest trade school anyway and will not need a 529. That is if they even finish high school.

This is really some useless bantering now.

The new service is nice, it saves me from standing IN LINE at my local PO. I just walk in and hand them off. I frequently had to spend 10 to 30 minutes in line sometimes.

I started the original thread linked here but it's never bad to occasionally repost this info IMHO>

If your two want to bicker amongst yourselves take it offline as it serves no purpose here. ;(

You type way faster than your comprehension skills permit. Since you don't have a post after my last one I am still waiting for you to quote ANYWHERE I said: there is a current 529 that allows non-education related withdrawals by the "beneficiary". Since you quoted every single one of my post and I can't edit your post and you can't post on this forum in the PDF format I will be waiting for your response for quite some time.

Mods please lock this thread.

VAGand Getreal you aren't even "real" members here since you have no profiles listed. Please read the Rules at the top of the page and enable your Profile, and turn on your PM feature so you can do this silly bickering in private.

If would have bothered to chek my PM is turned on and I have received serveral within the past two hours so go be a moderator somewhere else. I am not the one bickering here. Unlike some who just post crap, I am stating the facts as published on the USPS website relevant to this thread. :Q

Not siding with the bickerers, but there is no rule that you must enable your profile (that's only in FS/FT), nor must you enable the PM feature.

No rule for enabling PM I agree and I was saying they need to enable PM feature (actually only VaG) so they can keep this offline. But a Golden Member with no profile? Strange....

Actually maybe the profile is not required...guess I am just locked into the FS/FT Forum rules. Guess they might be different in the Hot Deals. That seems weird to me actually but, hey, who knows.
