I just got express network, and the csr said I needed to buy the office kit that comes with the software and cable. Do I need really need the software, or can I Just buy the cable and the computer will recognize it as a modem? What would I dial to access it? I have a V60 thanks.

Normally these cables are brand specific, not phone specific, so the LG cable most likely works across all LG phones ...

The boys at Radio Shack should be able to steer you in the right direction - $50 for a cable is ridiculous. If Radio Shack can't help, try Ebay. I paid $7 for my Motorola cable, after shipping.

Well the Shack boy (or grandpa) I spoke to this afternoon says it won't. He had another LG phone and said he tried the cable for the 4400 on his phone and it wouldn't work at all. He was pretty bummed out even tho the connection fits perfectly. Maybe I'll just pick one up and try it for myself tomorrow. If this works, it would be so sweet. I won't get stuck at home anymore on my on-calls weekends.

Forget the mobile office kit. You just need the cable, then you can configure it to use a standard Windows dial-up connection. You dial #777 to connect.

Using EN your speeds will burst up to 144k/sec, depending on signal quality and location.

The driver is posted previously in this thread. Without the driver you can't configure Windows XP and #777 won't do anything

Yeah, make sure you get the Express Network (sometimes they'll forget).

You'll definately need the cable. I'm not sure what others are using but I got my cable for $20 at radioshack and downloaded my drivers from www.futuredial.com

I have a VX4400.

Check if radio shack has cables for your phone!

David

The futuredial cable comes with drivers? Or it comes with the serial number to register at Futuredial then download drivers off their website?

Anyone experiencing charges for using the EN? Or is everything a ok?

downloaded and installed the driver MotoUSBDrv.exe all it did was install a modem driver on my WinXP. I configured the new USB device (from plugging the phone/USB cable to the computer) to that modem driver (even put in the init string from earlier in the thread) but when I query the modem an error occurs.
Could it be that the drivers are specific to the brand of the cable?

Don't download the software, you just need the USB installer drivers (it's free from the site).

After the drivers, Windows will detect the phone and everything will work well. I'm on my EN right now at a book store, works great. I'm using it very limited at least until I get my next phone Bill. Then we will find out whether they are going to charge me or not!

Does anyone know if there is any limit on how many times you can log on in a day? After a few tries, it does not allow me to log on anymore.

Thanks,
Brian

If anyone could help i'd appreciate it.

I have the Motorola T720. I bought the mobile office kit when i had my old V120 phone. this was BEFORE express net, but i understand there is no difference in the cables between before and after. if there is, i'll go buy a new cable.

when i try to dial up, the phone says, connecting at 14.4 k then it connects and immediately disconnects.

that's it. i've tried most of the things posted here, one point of confusion, someone posted that he was setting the MODEM speed but not the PORT speed, where do you set the PORT speed? is it in the modem device properties sheet?

any help would be appreciated.

I called verizon customer service (*611) to add the express network feature to my plan and she told me I needed the mobile office kit (which I know I need the cable) and that my phone was already capable and that I would only be using plan minutes and that I would not be charged anything else for it. Basically she was telling me she didn't need to touch my account and that as long as my phone's capable (which it is) that I would be fine. My plan was NOT activated after June 2nd (it was actually activated almost a full year ago).. anyone else have any similar experiences? She seemed to know exactly what I was talking about.

Also, if the radio shack one is just like the one that comes with the mobile office kit, then definately spend the extra 10, it allows you to also plug in your charger cable to the data cable so you can be on without having ur battery die

The $5 data cable for my T720 I bought on Ebay from Eforcity is a 2-in-1 cable that charges as it synches data.

Clcik Properites on your modem and you should be able to set the PORT speed in one of the tabs. It'll be a drop down box.

EDIT: Your port speed in Windows also has to match the port speed set on the phone for a connection to be successful. And make sure you are using the modem init string posted above ...

There are rumors that all A.C. plans activated before 6/2 are having this EN feature added to their account automatically, but Verizon is just taking their sweet time doing it. Calling to add the feature is the quickest way of getting it if they haven't gotten around to auto provisioning your account.
