Basically she was telling me she didn't need to touch my account and that as long as my phone's capable (which it is) that I would be fine. My plan was NOT activated after June 2nd (it was actually activated almost a full year ago).. anyone else have any similar experiences? She seemed to know exactly what I was talking about.

did you renew recently?

No, I also noticed that they converted all America's Choice plans to unlimited night and weekend minutes as of June 2nd.. I used to have 3200 night & weekend (big difference, I know..) but it seems they're doing a lot of "policy" changed as some have mentioned.. and since this is a policy change rather than a promotion, it shouldn't actually fall under the contract extension requirement and should be implemented automatically (just as the unlimited n/w is now policy and was added automatically)..

This was the strange thing.. I originally asked for the "unlimited E.N. plan" (more or less as a slip of the tongue) and was told it would cost $74.99 a month.. I then said "I'm sorry, I mean the plan that uses the phone as a modem and uses my plan minutes" and she said that it was already included in my phone and that I just needed to purchase the mobile office kit (which she said cost $70, of course I bought the cable for $12 in a buyitnow auction)..

Now of course we'll find out for sure in my next billing statement...

I just upgraded my plan. Here is the deal, according to the rep i spoke with ALL NEW plans INCLUDE Express Network, so if you just reup you get the express network.

I don't know about you, but I personally like the option of calling to add EN without extending my contract a lot better

-=K=-

Yep, me too but is it possible since I don't want to lose my 8pm Unlimited Nights and Weekends when they've changed it to 9pm for all the new plans after October 2002. Anyways, I have a Motorola v60i which is a non 1xRTT phone so is it possible to add EN to the account but have EN when I change phones in about 6 months when my 2 year contract is up?

I have the Samsung A530 and when I try to connect I get "Security error: key not recognized" I called *611 but the rep was telling me it was something crazy like 80$ a month for the Express Network to be added. I activated my account with them on June 3 2003.

the CSR was talking about a Express net ALWAYS on account for $80.00 / month.

your account since it was activated on 6/3/03 is already EN capable. now you just have to get it set up so that it works.

The only speed setting in Windows you should be concerned about is the "Maximum Port Speed" (at least that is what it's called in XP), found by bringing up the Properties on your modem and then selecting the "Modem" tab. That needs to be set to 115200.

I suppose as long as the CSR doesn't put two and two together from looking at your account info with your ESN and determine that you can't actually USE the EN service, they won't have a problem adding the feature to your account.

As stated earlier, your account should eventually be provisioned with EN automatically.

I've completely screwed up the installation of the USB driver on my Shack USB cable by installing the MotoUSBDrv.exe first, now I uninstalled it and installed the futuredial usb driver which went fine, but when I plugged it in, it doesn't even install the phone driver when I plugged it in.

I would like to sign up for the Express Network but don't know if my Verizon phone Motorola StarTAC ST7868W is Express Network capable? I went to Radio Shack this afternoon to check out the prices of new phones and they are quite expensive. The Samsung A530 looks quite nice and small but the price is too much!! Any suggestion on phones.

Thanks

No, the Startac is too old to be EN compatible. With Verizon you are eligible to purchase a new phone at the promotional (new customer) price when you are on your 10th month of a 12 month contract or on your 22nd month of a 24 month contract.

Cool... I guess I can wait but Ross Weber somehow said that the EN thing was done in error and only 1/2 the package so when they do the audit, people will get billed so better to wait for me I guess.

The StarTAC ST7868W is not EN capable since the first Motorola phone with EN is the Motorola T720. Anything before that has no EN at all. The way to tell is that the EN phones has all those games and ringtones, etc you can download with the Verizon GetItNow that they charge you a arm and a leg for.

Yeah, this means you have to wait until February 2004 since you can upgrade 2 months before the contract or pay full price for a phone from Verizon's store or elsewhere if you want it sooner.

Cool!

I just got a call from someone at EN customer service. It was the same guy I had talked to last week. He was calling to see if I had resolve my issue and I said no, no CSR seemed to know what I was talking about. I then asked him if he knew about it and he said yes. I then asked him about a feature code, or something I could refer to when talking to a CSR. He said he would talk to a CSR himself and put he on hold.

When he came back, he had a Linda from CS on a 3-way call and had her take care of everything for me. However, differently from others, she said I'd have to move to one of the new plans in order to have EN. After she told me about the new plans I realized I could go with a better plan for the same amount I'm paying today. So I went from AC 300 + 4000 N&W to the new AC 300 + unlimited N&W + 1000 mobile to mobile + EN and it will still cost $35/mo. The best thing is that I can still use the corporate discount that was attached to my account to bring that monthly payment lower! That's cool!

Thanks mrVW for this hot deal!!!

Thanks,
Rayon

w00t! I think I got it working. I just got a new Americas choice family plan yesterday with two LG VX3100 phones for $50 after rebate due to a pricing error (the phones are originally $100 each although there is a $50 rebate)... and I called to CSR's today at Verizon; the first said that this policy change did not exist, the second CSR asked two supervisors, and the second supervisor set up my plan with the free EN that just takes off regular minutes. Sweet deal.

I set mine up via futuredial cable, their usb drivers and a new connection in Windows. Connected at 230kb feels like isdn, which is pretty good considering I only can get modem where I live.

Thanks for the post! I added the Express Network feature to all 3 of my Americas Choice Family Share phones without restarting my contract. I just started my contract in March, so maybe that helped me qualify. The representative seem surprised that the feature could be added without restarting but she gave it a try and it worked!

BTW, I purchased a data cable for my LG VX440 phone from RadioShace for $20. My local store didn't have any in stock but had one shipped to my house at no additional charge. This will be great for traveling!
