I called verizon customer service (*611) to add the express network feature to my plan and she told me I needed the mobile office kit (which I know I need the cable) and that my phone was already capable and that I would only be using plan minutes and that I would not be charged anything else for it. Basically she was telling me she didn't need to touch my account and that as long as my phone's capable (which it is) that I would be fine. My plan was NOT activated after June 2nd (it was actually activated almost a full year ago).. anyone else have any similar experiences? She seemed to know exactly what I was talking about.

OK
I just upgraded my plan. Here is the deal, according to the rep i spoke with ALL NEW plans INCLUDE Express Network, so if you just reup you get the express network.
I don't know about you, but I personally like the option of calling to add EN without extending my contract a lot better

I have the Samsung A530 and when I try to connect I get "Security error: key not recognized" I called *611 but the rep was telling me it was something crazy like 80$ a month for the Express Network to be added. I activated my account with them on June 3 2003.

Yep, me too but is it possible since I don't want to lose my 8pm Unlimited Nights and Weekends when they've changed it to 9pm for all the new plans after October 2002. Anyways, I have a Motorola v60i which is a non 1xRTT phone so is it possible to add EN to the account but have EN when I change phones in about 6 months when my 2 year contract is up?

I would like to sign up for the Express Network but don't know if my Verizon phone Motorola StarTAC ST7868W is Express Network capable? I went to Radio Shack this afternoon to check out the prices of new phones and they are quite expensive. The Samsung A530 looks quite nice and small but the price is too much!! Any suggestion on phones.
Thanks

I suppose as long as the CSR doesn't put two and two together from looking at your account info with your ESN and determine that you can't actually USE the EN service, they won't have a problem adding the feature to your account.
As stated earlier, your account should eventually be provisioned with EN automatically.
