awesome price for this monitor. have had mine over a year, and just got in on this deal yesterday. Usually sells for around 485ish or so.

This deal is not only for this model, Dell is offering 15% off for select monitors. I just posted this one because it is an exceptionally good price and have been waiting on a deal like this for a long time.

yah considering i paid like 530 for mine over a year ago, and they havent gone down in price until the last month or so, 408 is a damn good price. trust me, for this screen, it is well worth it.

If I remember correctly this LCD uses the same 16ms 16.2mil color 6bit AU Optronics panel that many 17inch LCDs use. The exterior design looks nice but the panel is old tech. $250-300 should get you 17". $400-450 for 19". $600 for 20.

This is an amazing monitor.

Excellent performance, rotating screen, thin bezel and elegant styling.

These moitors don't go on sale much.

Even if it is "old tech," a LCD with these specs should be around $350 atleast, not $250-$300. $250-$300 LCDs are most likely not that great in quality.

Recently there have been some extremely great deals on LCD displays (this post included). However, I've been told by a friend of mine (an online hardware e-tailer) that LCD prices will be dropping DRASTICALLY in the upcoming months. Through the holidays to the start of the new year. I'm still using my good old Viewsonic PS790 19" CRT and I too have been tempted to jump on some of these deals. I think I'll wait. Just an FYI for the anandtech'ers.

Although I hate thread crapping I've to agree with you. The extra $200 is well worth it. 17" is just too darn small especially when you consider 1280x1024 native resolution. The text is too hard for me too read on a 17" screen. Besides, the LCD pricing is dropping constantly and why not just wait for a better deal.

I have owned both and the image quality of the VP171B is FAR superior to the 2001fp. The screen door effect for me was unbearable.
