um am i doin something wrong? i get a measely 20fps with this card. I get 30-50 fps with my voodoo3 3k. suggestions?

Check your driver versions. I accidently installed the Win98/ME driver (I'm running WinXP) and got a 2500 score on 3dmark2001. I installed the correct WinXP driver and got a score of about 3650, and that's before any tweaking.

figured wat went wrong. i messed up when i tried to set max fps. fixed it to 100 now. works great!

this vid card is great...i got it back in nov when prices were really expensive too... mild OC'ing gives me the same score as my hercules gts...

if u on really strict budget..go for it..

if u got an extra twenty bucks..stretch to a gf2 ti200

woohoo...i was planning on ordering it today, and low and behold it dropped again!!!

Its now $48+$5 shipping! I ordered it with a whole bunch of stuff. I will note later what revision and the speed of the ram I get.

great value. i overclocked to 210/360 and scored 4302 in 3dmark2001se (up from 3665 at default 175/286). i ran the tests at 1024x768 (32 bit) on my athlon xp 1700+ with 512MB DDR.

the boost in 640x480 (16 bit) was not as significant, with a score of 5723 at 210/260, up from 5487 at 175/286.

Don't worry about the Ram speed. They all seem to overclock about the same. I don't think there is enough voltage to take advantage of the 5.5ns Ram.

Let-down? Why? What did you expect? That it will cook dinner and clean dishes for you? You raised the core 25MHz and memory 40MHz, be realistic.

My current result are:

Duron 1.3 GHz, 512MB of cas 2.5 PC133 SDRAM (running at 100MHZ), 5400 RPM EIDE 100 (Under Windows 2000 SP1)

Detonator 23.11, Graphic Winsize 64mb, 210/366mhz = 3032 (3Dmark2001 SE)
Detonator 27.50, Graphic Winsize 64mb, 210/366mhz = 3355 (3Dmark2001 SE)

Right now our perfomance is comparible, but I bet that if you overclock to the speeds that I am using, you will pull away. Even so, I am a little surprised that the 266MHz DDR with a XP1700 doesn't do greatly better than my PC133 with a Duron 1.3GHz. If you do overclock to simular settings as mine, please post your results!

Also, it is difficult to tell exactly where your imprvovement came from since you changed several things (overclocking, drivers, winsize). I'd like to know if the winsize change really did anything. I have used mine anywhere from 32MB to 128MB and seen no difference what so ever.

Notice the only difference in my setup is the Detonator version. I got a 10% improvement with drivers alone, which is very impressive to me. I would guess that some of your improvement came from the driver upgrade and not all from overclocking. Has anyone else noticed this performance increase?

got 3 in today that I bought in the refurb section for $39 with free shipping-all 3 were in a oem visiontek box-which I didn't get with the oem ones?? 2 were factory sealed 1 was sealed with tape-2 were rev.C 5.5 and 1 was rev.B 7ns

"The GTS-V with its 32 mb of DDR RAM will outperform a MX400 with 64mb of its crippled RAM(either 128-bit SDR or 64-bit DDR) any day of the week. Memory bandwidth is the limiting factor for the GF2. And you will probably see no performance increase with 64mb vs 32mb for most games, especially considering the settings you're using probably would be relatively conservative with the system you're going to use this card for.

64mb of RAM in video cards is more useful for selling the cards rather than actual performance increase in most games. "

I asked before if anyone had their 5.5ns-memory card overclocked beyond speeds possible with the 7ns memory, and still haven't heard from anyone running the memory faster than (2x200) 400Mhz. My 7ns-memory, Rev. C card, did 3DMark2001 loops all day long with the memory at 390, so I don't think the memory's [labeled] speed matters much.
