I am patiently waiting for my order of 2. I was only charged $28.50 for shipping. My order status says my order has been shipped and will arrive in 1 to 4 weeks. For those of you who rant about Newegg consider how they treat the servicemembers. I will not bitch too much because they DO at least ship to FPO Boxes. But come on. $28.50 for 2 video cards seems a bit high. They are padding their wallets because they know we have no other shipping option. LOL from Iceland.

Visiontek Xtasy5632 GTS-V Owner is here speak!

Yes the visiontek one is a big bang for the buck and is good card.
Furthermore, the 2d image is also very good.

If you want a card now with price and performance ratio get this card now and if you use Via chipset with WinXP use 23.12 WHQL driver they are in my opinion and tests I conducted the most stable and with 23.11 speed and is the latest compatible driver for winXP.

If you are not in a hurry wait until Geforce4 come out I have seen leaked info that the card goes as low as 75 dollars. chepest MX card of course.

"MX200 > MX > MX400 > GTS-V > GTS > PRO > Ti"

Shouldn't the arrows go the other way?

So, would this card be good for Nascar Racing by Papyrus/Sierra?

Or would my money be better spent on the GF3 card at BB for $150 after MIR ?

Outside of Nascar, I dont do games, sims etc and mostly surf, WP, and spreadsheet. Right now I have an old ATI AIW 8 meg PCI.

Fred I use this card for N4 and it's great... I run in 1280x960 with most graphics on and it's always smooth in cockpit view w/ a tbird 900. Of course if you can afford the gf3 definitely go for it if you've got a fast processor.

btw did I happen to see you on VROC?

I want this card, but i'm worried about the AGP 2x thing. I have a gateway computer. Its a "Classic" Athlon 750 with a 32 MB TNT2 M64 vid card in it right now. Will this GTS work in my system? How can i tell if i don't have AGP 2x?

Just bought one of these from Newegg to replace my Diamond Viper TNT2.

Bought an ATI Radeon VE and was very unhappy with the performance and other issues... hopefully this one will be better.

Gotta go with Nvidia all the way!

From the Visiontek Support FAQ:

<< << Q: One of the system requirements of my new XTasy card says I need an AGP 2.0 compliant expansion slot, how can I tell if I have this?
A: If your motherboard is from early 2000 or before, there is a good chance that it may not have an AGP 2.0 compliant socket. One way to tell is to look at the AGP slot. It should appear to have a small division with a shorter section and a longer section. If the shorter section is towards the back of the machine where you plug in your monitor, this is most likely AGP 1.0. If the shorter section is towards the front of the machine, or there is no division at all, it is most likely AGP 2.0 compliant. Check with your motherboard manufacturer or PC manufacturer to be certain. >>

BTW: I bought MOH:AA on the CC deal yesterday and This card does 1024X768 with full details (even volumetric smoke) no problem.

LucJoe:

VisionTek claims your slot has to be AGP 2.0 (1x/2x/4x) to use this card. However, even if your slot is AGP 1.0, it seems that as long as your motherboard is delivering 3.3v voltage to the AGP slot, you are able to use this card. My motherboard falls exactly into this fortunate category, although my computer was purchased in 1999.

So you may want to check if your motherboard enabled the 3.3V requirement.

I have an ABIT BM6 motherboard with AGP 1.0 (1x/2x). I've been using the GTS-V for 3 months and haven't encountered any problems between the card and the motherboard. I believe my motherboard is one of the later BX boards (it has a PPGA socket, not a Slot 1), so ABIT presumably bumped up the voltage in anticipation of the then-new AGP 2.0 spec. I have the card running in 2x mode, but I'm not taking a performance hit because 4x doesn't make a difference on a Celeron system (or many other CPUs for that matter).

Currently installed and overclocked to 200/330 - posted a 3DMark2001 of 2770 and 3DMark2000 of 5460 with my Duron 700 based andara system. Slight snow at 200/333 but nothing to worry about.

The figures don't look particularly impressive as my GF2 MX card (210/230 w/D700@1000Mhz) would do 5650 in 3DMark2000, however, the card runs RTCW perfectly well and I have no complaints. Although I did notice very slight visual imperfections compared to my Leadtek GF 2 Pro (230/465).

All in all a very decent card for the money

Hi,

I have a Savage 4 Pro (w/32MB) and a FireGL 4000 (w/32MB). But are based on PCI bus.

Which one of my cards should I replace, the Savage 4 Pro or FireGL 4000 ? Please advise.

Thanks.

i got this card when it first came out.
and am loving it.

i think mine is hitting somewhere around 215/360 or 210/360.
i forget which.

but eitherway... it's amazing what you can do with this card for so cheap.
it's not the best v-card. but for the money... for those on budget... it doesn't get any better than this.

i get 72 or 62... i forget which...
but it seems like my fps gets maxed out a number...
i know my card has more power left in it...
but it must be some sort of config issue.

Hoihtah,
r u referring to CS?

If so you need to enable the console - then type "fps_max = 100.00" (without the " ") then press enter.

You should now get higher than the standard 72fps - standard console command is fps_max = 72

As far as I am aware it should perform in a similar manner to the regular GTS card for a price = to an MX card.

All you need to do is enable the overclocking facility (search for "coolbits") and bump the clock/memory speeds to that of the GTS cards.
