Thanks Heretik and Amploud, I was a little worried about the negative feedback from some K7s5a users, perhaps they couldn't make the board work well or they really were unlucky to get a bad piece. But I have read many issues being resolved after some tuning.

The VisionTek 5632 really is the biggest bang for buck! I couldn't find any other DDR Card in that price, all I could find was the slow MX200 around this price. I can't afford the G3, not to talk of the new G4. Even if I could, I would probably still go for this G2 GTS-V coz almost all benchmarks show that it gives at least 30fps with 32bit color and high detail on any game in 1600*1200. I won't be running games at 1600*1200 so I guess this card would be sufficient for quite some time, if I don't go after "100's of fps"

btw I haven't seen any Racing/Driving Simulation Game for PC after the 1999's release of NFS5, or Driver or Midtown Madness2

Driver2 had been released only for PS, similarly Driver3 and the Stuntman are being developed for PS only, I have heard NFS6 is for PS as well, are we ever going to see any Driving games on PC again?

I personally don't like the console thingy. The graphics quality is not good, what can they show on 300-400 lines on TV, incomparable to the graphics that can be produced on PC, IMO.

I've been using the 12.90 drivers for months without problems.

I use NVmax for o/c'ing and other manipulation.

All GF2 cards (except the MX series) have DDR memory. You card's memory should run 384MHz at spec and probably 410-425MHz overclocked.

just got my second one of these on the $39 shipped refurb deal - rev C - 5.5ns ram

flashed the bios to 210/372 so far stable - no problems with either.

There is a bios editor in there as well as the nvflash.exe utility.

The reg hack to O/C is great but once I find an optimal speed I like to Flash it to bios.

For all of you that are considering this card, don't let the overclockers influence your decision. Most people don't overclock. For the money, you really can't beat the performance of this card. I went from a TNT2 to this card and PC games are MUCH better graphically. Everything else is about the same.

If you have the money this card makes a wonderful addition to your system.

This card really rocks, not the fastest on the block, but most bang for your $$$.

I am still sweating my pants while I try and try the card.

It reminds me how impressed I was with my $60 (After rebate) Voodoo3 2000 from the Value@merica.com days back then playing glide games such as UT tournament, etc.

Just got my new rig going with this card in it.

Got a 4339 on 3Dmark2001.

Using a Shuttle AK35GTR KT266a board
Athlon XP 1700+ (at 1.53 Ghz 139FSB X 11)
512mg Crucial DDR
Card at 200core 170Mem (340 DDR)

Using the video card drivers I got from Microsoft's Windowsupdate.microsoft.com what ever they are, they seem to be working well

Amploud, I was glad to see your post. I am strongly considering the K7S5A, as well. I'm glad to hear that it's been stable for you. I have some SDRAM to plug in, as well. I'd prefer DDR, but the prices lately!

Always wanted to upgrade my ATI expert 98 so, bought 2 last thursday, came on Tuesday. Got 5.5 memory! What a world of difference from my 8mb ATI! I never got any openGL game to play on that ATI (RTCW), tried every driver they offered.

Playing RTCW and UNREAL in high def is so cool! *Using powerstrip to Oc at 210/368 stable. Tried the mem at 380 or so but it would reboot my system after the first game in low detail (3dmark2k1).
Highest score i got in 3dmark2001 was 36xx. What do you guys think is keeping my scores from hitting 4000 like some other people? PC133? Or is it the difference b/t KT133a and KT266a? Windows 2k? Thanks for any replies.

For those of you lazy to get an overclock utility: Using visiontek 23.11 drivers: go to = control panel>display>settings tab>advanced button>GeForce2 GTS tab>additional properties button>clock frequencies
highest settings allowed are 220/360

Those of you thinking about buying the K7S5A... DON"T. I've tried my lucky and bought this board twice! both times the mobo used entirely different parts, and yet still both times DDR ram would not work in it, only SDR. Both boards were purchased from different places.

This is a bit off topic, but does anybody know why my ATI AIW pro is showing some "ghosting" effect on my NEC LCD400? It just started about a month ago, it starts up fine, but after about an hour of use, it has a 'bright shadow" (ghosting?) on all the text and images.

Could this be o'c damage? I have not tried hooking it up to the samsung monitor instead. Thanks for any replies

lebe0024, sorry to hear that you had problems with your K7S5A's, but if you read the reviews on newegg.com, you'll find that many other people have had good luck with them. I've also seen good things written at the tech sites that do mobo reviews; typically, they are praising the board for its price/performance and often mention the stability. I wasn't planning on starting with DDR, anyway, so might be a moot point.

I guess YMMV means just that....

Anyone know why with this new card, my computer keeps freezing in XP and randomly restarts?? (pretty much every time im using it)

Im using the Detonator Detonator 4 Version 23.11

Keep getting this error: The display driver for NVidia Geforce2 GTS/Geforce2 Pro seems to be responsible for the system instablity.

While getting this error, i also get another one: Your system has recovered from a serious error.

Im running this on an EpoX 8HkA

I went to Mirosoft's Update and used the drivers they had.
They had update for my Video card, sound card(C-Media), and Linksys Ethernet card.
All work great.
