no taxes here in texas. 4 to 6 weeks is a long wait but amazon wont charge you until it is shipped and even then you can cancel if a hotter deal comes up. ordered mine and waiting to see if any hotter deals on a 9800 XT 256 mb shows up, but i doubt it.

Oh well, even if they are bankrupt, it seems as if their support sucks (user reviews on Amazon) -- this is a HOT deal for those who currently own Radeon 9800 128MB versions and have a backup vid. card to use in the meantime, while they sell their 9800 128s for ~$240 on eBay.

Figure they don't charge your cc until it ships so you have time to find something better. If you do cancel the amazon order.

I get the feeling by the time they get it back in stock the next gen ATI part will be out...it's supposed to be almost 2x as fast as the 9800...

Supposedly final silicon is ready(a12 stepping of R420 chip), and they're just waiting for the strategic moment to put it out.

Dude, I have a Ti4200 from VisionTek and despite what others are saying their support has been awesome. The fan died on the card a while ago and I emailed them about it. Within a week I had a replacement fan sent to me for free and was back up and running. All it took was one email. VisionTek is one of the better 3rd party manufacturers

I have a visiontek gf3 ti500 and its still kicking, good card. My only concern about this is Amazon. They better not be rigging up a bait and switch scheme.

did you even read the review? the 256mb version has a higher memory clock than the standard 128mb version. the 256mb versions wins obviously.

256 meg version has DDRII which has higher latency, hence the higher memory clock to compensate - performance in games that don't need more than 128 megs of video RAM should be roughly equal.
