Not a bad deal, but by the time you get it, the 9800 Pros will be a lot cheaper. Not to mention that the 128MB performs as well or better in most cases. If you don't mind waiting and really want the retail version, go for it.

There is a chance that these are actually 9800 XTs. Just remove the heatsink and see if it says R360 on the core.

how (if possible) can a pro become an xt? is the xt and pro just a difference in speed or the technology and chip? i know that its possible on the other se to pro cards but i havent read anything about a pro going to xt via bios mod

I'm not sure about the Xtasy 9800 PRO, but I have the Xtasy 9500 PRO version and it overclocks well with the Omega drivers. I use Radclocker as my overclocking tool. I would love to buy this card. I think it's an excellent deal. I have had no problems with my VisionTek 9500Pro.

XT is based on the R360 core while the Pro is based on the R350 core. There are a number of improvements including a thermal diode and the overdrive feature (automatic overclocking). Anandtech article.

I think it was just more than a few, and I doubt Amazon is looking to eat almost $200 per card.

ive ordered a thing or two before on a "hot deal" and had it cancelled....but it was discounted even heavier than this was (though, the item itself wasnt so expensive as this is) never got a gift card or anything, just a cancellation because it was a pricing error, though i did get the email the next day. nothing from amazon yet though

i jumped on it, hadnt planned on a card, and wasnt looking for one...but figured

theyd cancel, and i wouldnt care
id get it, and use it

wont hurt my feelings if its cancelled, be nice to get it though

Hehe, I"m with you 100% there. This is definitely a luxury item that I didn't need but at 218 bones, it was too good to pass up. I personally am not expecting it to arrive but if it does...I"m a happy camper.
