Maybe because it was a price mistake and they caught it because of all of the orders.

None of you who ordered will get ANYTHING. Video card, gift card or otherwise. You probably won't even get an email telling you why your order was cancelled. They will be cancelled and thats that. I have tried on 3 or 4 qmazon price mistakes and they were all cancelled with no warning and no compensation.

There is an ATI 9800 Pro 128MB selling for $170 AR/AD (thread at FW) so I think less of this price at Amazon being a mistake. Maybe someone just got freaked out at the amount of orders, saw the discount rate, and then upped the price to prevent further possible damage.

We shall see. i was not too optomistic from the beginning. If something sounds too good to be true it probably is't. What gets me is you can get a 256meg on newegg for 300 bucks and amazon puts the price over 400.

I doubt it's a price mistake but may be wrong.

i get warnings/comformations that the price is wrong, they send a email saying it's wrong, and the correct price, and ask if you stil want it.
