$8.95 for shipping and handling to ship UPS Ground to Chicago, not to mention $1.63 tax (FL, NC, IL). This can't be real!

Well, I tried adding it to my cart several, clearing my cookies, adding my Visa CC # and all, but I still don't get an offer of the MS Photo Viewer.

I got excited when I saw the shipping charges for a 1.5 pound item I ordered:

Product Total $ 49.99
Sales Tax (FL, NC, IL residents only) $ 3.97
Shipping & Handling $ 16.24
Order Total $ 70.20

Plus the $4.99 shipping of the photo TV viewer. I excitedly closed the window before confirming the order.

Your $16.24 shipping already includes the $4.99 for the TV photo viewer, even if you don't want it.

Due to the low resolution of television screens, you can probably get away with 320x240 sized photos, 640x480 giving the best TV quality/size ratio.

Was going to order that $10 flash drive last week, but shipping was $9 for it. Thought I'd check today with the free photo viewer, only to find shipping is now $17. If TigerDirect didn't suck so much, and if the shipping wasn't so outrageously high, and if I didn't have to worry about my credit card being used by TigerDirect's partners without my knowledge or consent, and if I weren't so worried about getting a poor quality product from a poor quality company, and if I thought that I could get decent support from TigerDirect in case of problems, I'd be all over this. But given the above problems, I just closed my browser window and came back here to look for hot deals that are actually hot deals.

EDIT: Typo fixed.

Can anybody find a review on the microphone? This looks good for voice recognition / home automation.

Okay, I have one of these sitting on top of my monitor. First of all, it needs to be plugged in to the wall, it is not self-powered.

Second, it isn't that great. Signal to noise ratio is at best 17 compared to 19 or 20 for my other mikes. Voice recognition is mediocre at best. I'd pass on these unless you really hate headsets.

It's a nice mike for recording conferences and voice, as long as you have AC nearby.

If it is not self powered, what is the included 9V AC/DC power adapter used for?

Most of my mikes don't require any power inputs. That's what I mean by "not self-powered". This mike requires a plug in to the wall with the adapter.

Self-powered is more commonly known as the unit have its own power supply and hence does not draw power from the computer.

After using this mic array for a few weeks, I found it is very helpful in both voice reconition and voice chatting/gaming. Recording quality is great compared to my other logitech and andrea noice cancelling mics. It only pickups the sounds in an area infront of the monitor 30 degree wide, and effectively eliminated most envirnment noices. I have a LCD TV by my left hand with volumn turned on high all the time, and I still can do voice recognition at almost the same accuracy. The microphone can not hear the TV at all. And it is pecfect for voice enabled games as well because you no longer need to put the headset on with your speakers turned on high. No feedback. Not at all.

CDW sells it for $130. Andrea has a similar product which only has 2 mics built-in. They sell it for $25.

Highly recommanded at this price and performance.
