So walmart has its own branded data service (similiar to straight talk for voice), but this one is called "internet on the go". There is a Novatel based mifi device and a USB device available for roughly 100-120 or so bucks.
The deal comes in through truconnect, which usually charges $4.99 / mo + 3.9c/mb, well the walmart deal has 3.9c/mb and no monthly fees and no expiration of balance on a pre-paid system (just got to use it once a year).
For an occasional user, the walmart 'internet on the go' system works great, i got the mifi + $45/1gb data refill + autorefill setup of $20/450mb (when balance goes to zero). The other pre-paid options are $10/100mb, $25/500mb
Since this is on the Spring 3G network, it should work in most major area's, for an occasional road warrior, it makes sense. YMMY.
