Couldn't do the BB PM @ CC; still holding 2 hoping for a PM somewhere. Good deal, but not deal of the year -- YMMV was huge.

My current DOTY vote (even though it came at the end of 2002): The $710 rebates on the Dell 8250. Big YMMV cuz Dell is so unethical, but most people still got a full P4-2.4 system for $89 to $189 + shipping. I got two for 2x$189.

It's actually "Your Mileage May Vary". It's basically stating that not everyone will have the same results and in the case of these deals, they are talking about that you may have problems price matching depending on the store, CSR's and your particular circumstance.

BTW.. If this deals wasn't dead, it should be dead now. These sales run from Sunday to Saturday and even if BB kept the $79.99 price up all week, we are in a new sale period now starting today.

Got the two e-mails yesterday as well. I noticed however they were very careful to say that "they had been received and were being processed", NOT that they had been accepted.

The estimated ship date is 6-01 according to the web site.

Isn't getting money back on the items through a MIR considered mail fraud since you get money back on a mail in and technically submit the rebate on a $80 item instead of the original $180 item?

Why in the world would you think that mattered? The rebate is on a specific item, as long as you buy it, within the given time frame, you should be good to go. The exceptions would be specifically stated on the rebate form, clauses such as "not valic for more than purchase price" or the like.

PS. damn wankers reposting in a two week old thread just to say "I got rebate confirmation!"

Good deal. I figured this was over, but I checked & Circuit City still has the rebates up on its site. Ends on the 31st though. Not sure about the whole BB PM ordeal though. Although, going by the 'close proximity' theory associated with the deal, it should work.

Just so you know, that last Western Digital rebate I did took 4 months after the "Date Rebate Shipped". The status page has "Your rebate request has been received and is in process. If you do not receive your rebate check six weeks from the indicated 'Date Rebate Shipped' please call us at 888.292.0667." Every time I called them, they said it was in the final stages. Far as I can tell, it just means it was approved and they will send it when they feel like it, or WD finally funds the rebate. WD rebates used to take 6-8 weeks, but that last two I did took 4-6 months. YMMV.

Btw, I have one sitting there right now for the 80GB Best Buy deal. Ship date is 05/26/2003 (est.) We'll see. Fishhawk

I just got my WD rebate and finished this deal (my first that required any sort of engineering)

$150 (for 2 of the CC drives, 110% pricematched, out the door) - $100 (sold one to a friend) - $20 (CC rebate) - $80 (WD rebate) + $10 (insured shipping to send a Dell HD I bought back) =

$160 - 200 = I Made $40 for the pleasure of owning this super fast, big and quiet drive.

And yes, I'd LOVE a cookie. Thanks!

Why didn't you put this into brag & moan instead of ressurecting a dead deal? Since the guy who started this didn't put deal dead, it misleads people into thinking its alive. And you can get cookies in brag & moan. Not here. I vote to lock this.
