actually. yes. the store manager circuit city at orange, CA told me to go to another store when i asked him if that's what he was telling me to do. he wouldn't price match even when i showed him the print out of the pricetag that someone had posted in this thread. he said it had to be an actual advertisement. what's more messed up is there were 2 guys right before me who actually got to pricematch. I guess i was just unlucky and happened to get a CSR that happened to ask his store manager about the pricematch. the two guys before me did it with another CSR who didn't ask his store manager. anyways.. i am pissed... first the logitech cordless duo elite deal and now this...always end up wasting time / gas.... sigh.... but anyways.. telling your customers to go to another store to buy the same product. hah. i hope they run out of business :|

i means that they won't pricematch to the after-rebate price at another store. This Policy doesn't really say anything specific about what we are attempting to do. I can tell you that if you try to shove this in their face, they will tell you that the BB price is not advertised (nor is it likely even in stock). To get them to PM and give you the rebate forms, you have to be lucky and get a CSR who is inexperienced enough not to bring their manager over or a manager who is also dumb or nice. If you stick by the fine print, they actually don't have to PM you since BB did not advertise this price anywhere.

Eek... BB doesn't have anymore... Had to go to 2 circuit cities before finding one.. $179 + tax - $100 MIR.

Left, came back for price adjustment... they called BB and nobody picked up for like 10 minutes. So I was told to walk in to the circuit city later. I doubt they'd be able to do it but $95 after rbate is COOL

I did the first 80GB CC PM to BB by using a Scan of shelf tag hehe so nice job on making that available man. One more thing I have noticed. If you are going to do these type of PM's then goto the circuit city and check out who is in the CSR area. Woman are so much nicer then men about these things, the lady that PM'd mine 1)didnt call BB 2) gave me rebates 3) complimented on how good a deal I was getting : ), and this was my first PM attempt ever and IMO from what I have read you guys that dont get a PM are dealing with male CSR's who I guess think you are trying to cheat them personally lol. Ah well Im gonna try this deal on Tuesday at the same CC, and good luck to everyone.

I took my PM'd receipt to another CC and had them print out my rebates as they threw away the rebates where I bought it (bastards). I would advise anyone who doesn't get a nice female CSR as Nemesis suggests to just go this route if still possible tomorrow. Just convince CC to PM to BB even if they don't want to give you the rebates, then have someone else print the rebates for you later or at another CC. Or send in the web rebates.

I think for those having trouble you should buy at CC full price first, come back later and get the PM, maybe even go to a different store. Just my two cents. Oh, and always grease the wheels, keep telling them how much you'd rather buy from CC instead of BB, etc. If the stores are close by each other, check stock and price at BB first. Then when you come back for PM, say after I bought this I was roaming around BB and saw that they have it for less. Of course, none of this may work either. Good luck!

the circuit city rebate program for the hd is through 5/10

I'm have not idea on when Best Buy is gonna stop selling the HD for 79.99 w/o rebates. BUt I'm sure they'll be out of stock tommorow.

As for getting the PM from CC. I'll say to 5/10

I know I'm gonna head back tommorow armed with my CC reciept showing the hd for 80 bucks and grabbing 1 more. Stupid brother didn't pick up phone when I was there asking if he wanted one, when I come home gave me attitude about not calling him.

As for the getting female CSR. I got a guy he wasn't too happy, he was shocked but caved pretty quickly when a line suddenly formed behind me and all of the other CSR seem to have disappeared to the back room. Only real hassle was him wanting to compare model numbers from ad which had old hd design and I grabbed new box design. Made me stand and wait for him to run back and worth.

well, i tried, but no go here's my sad story ...

bb's are too far from me, but there is a circuit city AND a compusa close by. 1st, went to circuit city and picked up the drive at the regular price ($180+tax). then hit compusa wondering if i could pull off some kind of pm deal. as luck would have it there were two other guys there, with a receipt from bb for the drive for $80! they were buying more, to ebay, apparently. anyway, they got a kind of clueless foreign girl who asked one of her co-workers, then did the deal for these two guys. i'm thinking, sweet, i'm in! i even borrow the receipt off of them in case the chick gives me a hard time. anyway, some other csr comes up and immediately starts to question the deal when i ask for it. she calls in the big guns, keeps talking about the first girl getting in big trouble, then finally calls bb. naturally they're out of stock so she won't do it for me. what a rip! now i'm trying to figure out if there's any way i can get a pm on this at a different store, if i should do the mir's from cc, or just bail on the whole thing. it wouldn't be so bad if i hadn't seen those other dudes getting the great deal only to get screwed myself. oh, well ...

Hey... YMMV. Don't hold your breathe and throw a fit because you didn't get your way.

And someone's getting burned on these deals no matter how you want to rationalize it.

And they don't care if you buy from them or not. They don't need your business.

No... I didn't get lucky on this like some have. But there are plenty of deals to come... so try to keep it in perspective if at all possible.

I just bought the last 2 on the shelf at the Pentagon City Best Buy in Arlington, Virginia. The price label on the shelf listed them as $79.99 but they rang up $99.99. The sales clerk went back and checked and I got them for the $79.99 shelf price after she filled out a form. The model number is WDC1200JBRTL.

Just went by the Charleston, SC BB, had no drives but a brand new shelf tag dated 5/5/03 for $179.99. Looks like a no go here. BTW, the CC is about 1/4 mile away.

Man, I hate that BB, the pentagon city one... It's so ghetto, you couldn't pay me to step foot in that store... BLEH!!! I get the willies thinking about it... There is a much nicer one (brand new store) that has TONS of stock in bailey's crossroads... They had a ton of drives...
