Unless AMEX can proof that you are doing the rebate, I can not see them not honoring the PM. This is especially true considering how often most rebate turns bad.

There's three possible outcomes to the previous argument

(1) They make you sign an affidavit saying you haven't sent in a rebate to give you a price match.

(2) They (being Amex) say that "Rebate offers are exluded" means, any purchase that has a potential rebate and deny all price matches.

(3) They honor it

What exactly is "straightforward" about it? One person talked to a CSR who said it would be denied. Another talked to a different CSR who said it would be honored. It seems inconclusive, at best.

CSRs only take the claims info, and they do not all have the latest info. I am sure the entire matter will be a subject of discussion at BVG on Monday when the Claims Agents come in...they are the ones that will decide whether or not the rebate will be taken into account when determining the amount of the PM, if any. CSRs don't have the final say.

I still think the best course of action is to wait a week to two and then try to file then (which you should be doing anyways, to avoid the "I bought it today and found a lower price right after" effect). If AMEX denies the PM, then you can either

1. Return to Outpost
2. Return to AMEX

I see no loss here at all...except some inconvenience, which comes with the territory.

However, if anyone get a confirmative OK or deny from AMEX, I am sure we'd like to be informed.

AMEX has a 90 Days Return Policy, should the vendor not take the return. Go check it out at americanexpress.com

If you read the page on exclusions it says " rebate offers not eligible ". But what they mean is that you can't pricematch the item you bought to a lower one you subsequently find if the latter one includes a rebate, thereby making the price artificially low. In the case of this deal the rebate is from the manufacturer and not from Outpost. Not to mention that the it shows on the site as being expired.

Anyone doubting this refer to several weeks ago the Visioneer 8100 scanner deal from Staples. Everyone matched it to Andaratech for $59.95 and got a check for about $20 ( $99.99 - $20 coupon = $79.99 - $59.95 = $20.04 ) , AND collected the $70 manufac. rebate.
And the Staples rebate was posted right on the product page for all to see.
