Yea you can flash the BIOS to make it an 1800xt but voids the warranty. Hate to have something go bad in the first month lol. You are also assuming that it has the same Samsung memory- manufacturers swap out memory a lot to save $$$ also supply

20$ more you can just get the 1800xt 256 or if you need the extra memory the 512 is 70 more$

I was nearly burnt with the ol' RAM "switch a roo" and a 9800 NP. For the first 5 months or so of production they made all the ATI branded 9800s (Pro and Non-pro alike) with FAST RAM (e.g., 2.2ns). MANY of the reviewer web-sites indicated this. Then they started putting slower RAM (e.g., 2.8ns) on the 9800NP version (cause they could) without it running "out of specs" for a NP card.

I'm sure quite a few peeps bought the 9800NP thinking they could easily OC the NP's to Pro speeds.
