The price did drop... down to $179. The deal here just makes it $150 which is what people thought the original price drop would be. And we already talked about the new bundle that will go for $200.

There seems to be some speculation on whether or not the price will drop to $150. I think this is a good reason to believe it might. I have never seen rebates on game consoles. From what I understand retailers do not make enought profit off the consoles to justify them to offer a $30 rebate out of their pockets. I am guessing that maybe they will get a price match from the manufacturer when the price drops soon. Plus they get to keep your money for 3-6 months and hope that a good percentage of people forget to turn the rebate in.

OK just got back from the FYE in the mall in Huntsville Alabama, they have this deal but according to the clerk, it was NOT the Sega Bundle, it was just and Xbox and 1 game from the list for $149 after $30 rebate. I would have been all over it if it were the bundle with the 2 games.

Dang I will be going to the store in a few hours, and there just happens to be a coconuts right next to it. I have birthday money to burn, but I already have one of the original model PS2's. So should I buy the Xbox bundle, trade in my PS2 later and then get the new PS2 bundle, keep my PS2 and wait for PS3 and spend my money on something else. Dang I hate making life altering choices like this. LOL

Also any link to info about the new PS2 bundle, and the new model in general would be awesome.

well I just found this link

It talks about the new bundle. Sounds pretty good to me. But if they bring out a new model PS2 with all those features and include the network adapter, they are gonna have to drop the price on the older PS2's in order to compete.

Well I just got back from coconuts, were I found a lot of confusing info.

Gamecube 129 after 20 dollar rebate, with 3 games.

PS2 149 after 30 dollar rebate, not sure if you get anything else with it.

Xbox 149 after 30 dollar rebate with the 2 games in the bundle, the extra game you choose and matrix on DVD.
But there was another Xbox sign saying 199 for the Xbox bundle, plus you get to choose another game from a list of 4(same 4 that you still get to choose from, not sure whichs ones though) plus you can choose either 8 mile or harry potter on DVD free. Now it would be really sweet to get the Xbox Sega GT bundle, with an extra game of my choice, plus 8 mile and the matrix for 149. But there was only one employee who was very busy, so I did not get to ask him more info about it.

I went to South Lake Mall in Morrow GA and the deal is a no go there. They are giving the x-box with a controller (NOT THE SEGA BUNDLE) plus one free game for 180-30MIR. Of course I dont really like any of those games so I walked out and will most probably buy the XBox from amazon or Costco, both of which are running some good Sega bundle deals right now.

I don't know if I want an Xbox. My roommate has a PS2 already, but I kind of want a GameCube because Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles looks pretty damn cool. Ahhhh, so many consumer goods, not enough bank to go around.

I believe Spec's Music also = fye. Although I don't know if they are running the same promotion.

The PS2 at my fye comes only with some 'organizer' kit or a $9.99 game free. I didn't see any $10 games there.

I went to the FYE in Mazza Galerie in DC last night. They had this deal, along with a Gamecube deal:

GC bundle with console plus three games: Defender, Spyro Gyro, and Crash Bandicott. This was for $149 - $20 MIR for $129 total. I tried to get one with a free Zelda, but the lady there told me that you couldn't get the free game with the bundle. She wasn't too sure at first, but really convinced herself by the end of the deal, so YMMV.

I passed on it, because I don't really want those three games. If you could still get a free game from the good list, then the extra three free crappy games might sweeten the pot enough to make it worth it. The games were (poorly) shrinkwrapped around a gamecube box, so it all came together in one package.
