We just got broadband last month and now running on a 512k/256k ($30 per month) connection in "Rip Off" Britain, so that connection would be something else by comparison!!!
Mind you if you want a fast connection they have 20 or 22Mb in France already!!!
However, I can assure you that after years of 56k which only connected at 33.6k - 512k is like greased bloody lightning

SBC has 3mbps/512k for $25 per month (the plan I'm on now) here in the states
If you like the internet, gas (petrol), new cars, consumer electronics, low taxes, cheap phone calls etc....never considering moving to the UK

They really need some fiber here in South Bay Area...it's the Silicon Valley!! I'm tired of comcast and sbc dsl that charge like crazy for average service.
I don't know about you, but before SBC bought out Pac Bell, the San Jose Berryessa area was all torn up to install fiber. It's just SBC didn't want to continue with the project when they bought Pac Bell, I basically have a useless fiber connection coming to my house.Originally posted by: mscdex0

wtf you talking about? 3mbps/512kbps for $24.95/mo. is a heck of a good deal. And an even better deal (in terms of bang for the buck) is their 1.5mbps/384kbps for $15/mo.

But still...pretty damn good!
