Although I have not used this Zalman 9550 it looks to me like it is the best thought-out design of them all.
My observations...
Big Typhoon - if it could be installed with
all 6 heatpipes in use (as if used on a horizontal M/B installation) it would undoubtedly be the best. However, all of my installations have at least 3 of the pipes going downward. And, a heatpipe, in order to function, must be assisted by gravity.
XP-120 - Mounted on a vertical M/B installation (like the above mentioned Big Typhoon) is the equal to the Typhoon in cooling IMHO and superior in other aspects as the Typhoon hogs all the available space inside the case (unless you've got a monster).
Zalman 9550 - due to it's unique heatpipe configuration should function with all 6 heatpipes contributing to CPU heatloss regardless of horizontal or vertical orientation.
This is just my $.06 ($.02 per cooler).
