doesnt include the cablecard but does the 8800gt. which means as of right now, the 8800gt is no longer a 10 day extra wait. Now lemme see if I can check on the cablecard.

FYI folks, I wouldn't honestly spend the + $ on the 4GB or the 3 GB DDR2-800 options. Why? You go to Newegg or similar and buy a 2x2 GB DDR2-800 kit cheap and sell off the RAM in the machine. I ordered one of these last night with the 3 GB DDR2-667, I'm going to order a 2x2 GB DDR2-800 kit from the Egg. I'd rather run 2x2 GB vs 4x1 GB.

The 3GB 800MHz option for $50 is not a bad option. For those who like to tweak with their PCs AND have more time than money, it might not make sense. But to a more casual user, it is a decent option.

For $50, you don't need to open the case, you don't need to bother with listing the original memory on eBay, and you don't need to waste time going to the post office. Consider the possibility of something going wrong in the process (bad memory, bad buyer, lost shipment), and the $50 spent here start looking really sweet.

Plus, how much can you get for the original memory, minus fees and shipping? You might not even save the full $50 going the DIY route.

Yeah, but someone may want to put a 64bit version of Vista on this thing along with 8GB of ram.

They do have drivers available for Vista 64bit, FYI.

Hi everyone. Longtime troller, first time poster. Just want to finally say hello and thanks for all the deals you've passed along over the years.

Anyway, I jumped on this deal earlier today (1/16). My final price was $975 (pre-tax). I asked about the additional 4% off with DPA and was told that they had changed the offer to 12 months no interest with new DPA purchases.

I figure the $40 I would have saved with the 4% is close to the interest I'm going to save so it's not that big a deal. (for me at least) Still a good deal IMHO.

Just wanted to let you know in case you were still thinking about pulling the trigger.

Oh yeah, I was told my ship date should be 1/31.

Just to follow up, original ship date = 1/28. New ship date = 1/16 and est. arrival date = 1/18. Have to say im quite impressed Dell! Btw, you can always call the reps about the $895 total you saw earlier if you want more to save more $ (what i did)

It looks like there's no longer a "No Monitor" option. I can't get it below $1439.

You actually need to choose the last dial which says something about "I will select a large display from the next section" but it won't forece you into choosing a large monitor.

Ah, working now. When I tried that on a different machine the website exploded.

I finally pulled the trigger on this a couple of days ago. Damn you, McFly! Thanks.

Site showed a 2/04 ship but it was changed to 2/01 by the next day.

How's the bios? any chance of overclocking? (wishful thinking I know on a Dell Mobo).

Hopefully one of our resident geeks can find a comparable bios with some overclocking features.

Peace

just happened to be in the market for a computer and saw this deal, thanks OP!!

not quite as sweet as the -$550 off that you got and the additional 4% from DPA. but since DPA now gives interest free financing till 2009, it's actually not that bad of a deal either (saves me a ton of cash until next jan!)

As far as I know they come with either a 375W or 425W power supply. bamacre should know more about these.
