I don't advocate hiding in a hole, just wanted to alert people that there's always a reason/motive for discounts and sales.

There have always been armed guards in UK airports as far as I can remember, and the last time I was there was 1998.

Edit: Yes you need a passport, but not a visa.

Edit2: Also, for those who can fly from DC or New Yuck, I advise you to try Virgin Atlantic as well. A check of their site came up with a fare of $270-odd for the same time period (including the Osama Bin Laden tax). Not sure if they expire on the 13th as British Airways does.

Man, I don't think I can pass this up. I live in Portland, and I've never been to Europe. $578 RT for two to London (on nonstops, even!) from Seattle seems incredibly cheap.

I was thinking about going to London in December, I figured it's probably nice around Christmastime (not weather-wise, but with lights and shopping and whatnot). Anybody been there around that time?

One of my friends recently took adv. of some special with BA for $300 and 2 free nights somewhere. I'm not sure if that included tax.

"There's a special on British Airways, round trip for 300 bucks + 2 free nights in a nice hotel.  The other 2-3 nights will be spent in a hostel at about 30 bucks a night. Check out www.ba.com"

GODDAMMIT they stopped flying to Charlotte last fall

I remember flying BA Club Class on their brand-new (at the time) 777s. They practically had reclining dentist office chairs, with adjustable personal video screens on the side! Best. Flight. EVAR!

Too bad USAirways had to price them out of Charlotte...then CANCEL THEIR OWN SERVICE AFTER BA LEFT. Just like they did with Lufthansa and Air France. Typical Charlotte airport politics. Let USAirways get away with whatever they want. Part of me wishes they would just go out of business and maybe then Charlotte would at least be competitive...

Right now United and American are also offering fares this cheap for the same period. I looked into the BA and from where we are we'd have to change planes and airports in Britain to get to Paris, which is where we wanted to go. On American it was $515 RT SFO to CDG Paris including all taxes and fees, one stop in NY but no change in plane. I couldn't resist.....
