BTW, all three Hotmail, Yahoo, GMail, can be set up to work through any pop3 mail client. Yes, Yahoo and gmail take more effort than hotmail/outlook to set up this way, but it IS possible.
Too bad Hotmail accounts don't work with any other email client, say, M2...

Also, add me to the list of people who haven't been upgraded yet either.

I've been with hotmail since 97 or 98 or something like that. I still have the crappy 2MB webspace. Hopefully things will change soon.

Not true. All of these can be made to work with any pop3 mail client. You just gotta know what to look for.

Hotmail Popper - Use Hotmail with ANY email client

I believe there exists free software to do this as well. This is just an example.

They've been talking about it for a while now. I think it was just a ploy to keep people from jumping over to yahoo or gmail and just seeing how long they can wait it out! Evil Microsoft.

Guess I'll just stick with G-mail

This article doesn't give any new news on the Hotmail upgrades, but does show details on how the rollout was intended to work and notes that it's getting pretty far behind...

Hmm... Strange... My "busy" junk-mail infested hotmail account got upgraded while my "filtered" one did not... Perhaps it has something to do with usage patterns? But then again, I think the two accounts are on different servers, because the "busy" junk-mail infested hotmail account is on a server that crashes often...

Nothing better then "Line Drive" for Navigating and driving at the same time.

It mentions:
"She added that the oldest active Hotmail accounts will get the upgrade first, followed later in the fall by newer and inactive accounts."

I've had my account for like a decade... still 2MB. I'm not convinced this is a first come first serve situation. Of course, what can you expect for free.

I asked Hotmail Support about the upgrades, and this is the reply I got. Blah Blah Blah

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thank you for writing to MSN Hotmail.

My name is Claire and I am writing in response to your concern on how you could upgrade your Hotmail account.

First of all, I would like to apologize for the delay in responding to your message. Every message that Hotmail receives is very important. Unfortunately, we recently received an extremely high volume of e-mail messages and are working diligently to catch up.

About your concern, I understand that you want your Hotmail account to be upgraded soon. Please be informed that you need not do anything. You will be upgraded automatically.

However, I would like to apologize for the delay in upgrading your account. As you know, MSN Hotmail is upgrading storage limits for customers. With over 170 million Hotmail users, this is going to take some time. Although I cannot provide you with the exact date when this will take place, please be assured that we'll communicate to you once the 250MB is available for free in your market.

Currently, you can enjoy the Virus Scanning and Cleaning of your incoming and outgoing messages as part of the upgrade.

Thank you for your patience towards this matter.

Sincerely,

Claire C.

I got one of the famous "approaching account size limit please send us money so we can upgrade your account" messages, which I thought was weird since I had just deleted spam the day before and probably had about 1 meg in there. I was in outlook express, so I logged on to the site and checked and I am at 250 Mb now. Stupid Mickeysoft!
