Well, I guess I'll pay two bills just in case.
What's the best way to fund the account after the initial deposit?
I only put in $1500, but I think I gotta keep the balance above $1500, so I need to send in funds.

I got in on the $100 deal, got my $100 credited to my account on 6/10. Very nice. Used the payment service several times, but no linked CC. I like this account and I will be keeping it.

I linked my 3 citi credit cards just for the heck of it.. It is actually pretty convenient.. I see the balance for checking and 3 cards on 1 simple screen.. I might start using citi cards exclusively - since it is extremely easy and fast to manage your finances and pay off your credit cards with checking account belance..
AmEx has the similar system...
45 more days to wait for me..

It took 96 days from initial signup to funding of the bonus. I am not sure when the clock starts in Citibanks logic, but do not count from day of initial signup. I lost count of the time, but I didn't have access to the account for atleast 30 of the first days. Hey it's free cash.

Okay I got my money, what is the best way to go about closing my account now, do I have to call them? Write myself a check for the full amount, and then call them? Is there a way I can do it online? I looked but couldn't find one.

I got a message at work today from CitiBank. I called them back, but they have to reschedule a call where they "catch me" at one of my land lines. Quite strict as many of you had mentioned in past posts.

As far as my offer is concerned, it seems that all I need to do is link my existing Citi Credit Card to my checking account, and I'm validated for the $150 offer. This may be only for Citi Card holders. I will also send two bill-pay transactions as well just in case. My account is funded currently, but not "open" until they catch me at work/home by phone call.

cool to hear man. i called CSR and they said that i should be getting it after july 9th, which is when the 90 days are up. i've paid my gas and phone bill online. i also did not recieve any confirmation that i signed up for the offer AND the CSR said he doesnt have access to that info but it should be on the application... ugh. if by july or aug i don't get it, im gonna call them and tell them "quixotic got it!"

btw, do they just dump the $150 into the acct?

Woohoo! Free money! I got my deposit today... funded my account on 3/28, so it was less than the 90 days specified, but fine none the less.

On anothe related note, have any of you been getting "Checks in Statement" fees for $1.00 taken out of your account? I've had to call twice in 2 months to have these fees removed, they don't seem to understand that I never signed up for that...

Anyways, gotta wait to 6/28 before I close out the account.

Has anyone deposited a few hundred bucks in their checking account and then the rest in a linked CD or money market fund? I'm asking because they say the $1500 can be a total from all of your linked accounts. So if they have a three month CD that is paying 2% and you put $1500 in that and then $50 in your checking account to open it and then make your two online bill pays with the $50 you would be meeting the $1500 requirement for all linked accounts and be making about 12% interest in 90 days?

EDIT:

The 3 month CD is .90%. They say the checking account looks at all your linked account so just link your CD and make and additional .90%.

It will only give you about $2 extra bucks by putting yur $1500 bucks in the CD, but if you drop like 100K in there then you make an extra $225 according to this calculator.

My Promotion Disclosure Letter received from Citibank says
$150 will be credited to your account within 60 days of the end of the statement period in which the second bill payment appears.
Is that the 90 days you guys refer to ?

yes and no..
In 60 days after 2 checks u supposed to get your $150, in 90 days u can safely close your account without any penalties, if chosing to do so..
I am keeping mine open, love the convenience of paying off my Citi credit cards and convenience of logging in and seeing ALL my Citi accounts in one snapshot..

Maaaan, is there a new code that we can use to do this again? I only got $100 on my first pass, it'd be great if I could do it again for $150

Thanks! I just opened an account using code CGC
Deposit $1500 get $150 60 days after making 2 Pay by mail payments.

I did this about a year ago worked great.

Think I'll keep the account this time their pay by mail is better than the one I'm using now.
