We're sorry, but we are unable to process your request. The E-Value code you entered is either incorrect or expired.

Too bad - a friend is looking for a Dell, and this sounds like a great deal. When I tried to configure a similar system, it cost over $1200. Any idea how to get this deal to work? Thanks!

EDIT - Never mind - I was in the Small Business store, and you have to be in Home to get this to work. I am dumb. Thanks!

Does the Dimension 8250 desktop have an AGP slot?

I can buy the PC now, and in a few months upgrade the video card to something better.

comments?

Thanks...Mitch

Well the price has changed for the 3rd time in 2 days. This time it went up $40 and they force you to buy the HK speakers. I guess it's still a good price, but I really don't need the $40 speakers.

Current price as of 3pm PST is $939 - $200 rebate = $739 + 99 shipping.

Don't forget you might have to pay tax too.

Also, if you meet the requirements for educational sales (this includes college students and almost any educational facility faculty/staff), you can get some pretty good rebates on the 8250. There's a $200 rebate, a $170 rebate (or mem upgrade), and a $140 rebate (or HD upgrade). If you don't take any free upgrades, you get $510 off, not bad. All MIRs tho, so it's not instant, and you have to pay tax on the full amount. You also get educational discount of 5% off of dell home prices.

After tax and shipping, you should be able to get a 8250 with a p4 2.4 with 256MB RDRAM and 30GB HD plus other options for $450-600 total depending on minor options.

Sample system:

Dimension 8250
P4 2.4GHz
256MB RDRAM (2x128MB)
30GB 7200RPM HD
GF4 Ti4200 64MB
All other options minimal possible (integrated sound, eithernet, no monitor, no speakrs, xp home, works 2002, etc)

$866 + tax + shipping - $510. With tax and shipping to my location it came out to $512.

The deal on the 8250 is nice. don't be fooled by the "free" PDA/Printer/Digital Camera. Dell used to have a free upgrade to a cd burner and hard drive on the 4550. Now if you want a cd burner and a 60GB hard drive to replace the CD-ROM/30GB, it will cost you about $150 more. Personally, i'd rather have the burner/bigger Hard Drive for less $$ then a "free" PDA. I also noticed that going from 128MB to 256MB RAM now costs $60 instead of $50.

WOW!! This in an incredible deal!

How would a student like myself go about obtaining those extra rebates? What about the 5% discount? Thanks

Just go to the Dell Educational site (it's accessable from dell.com, just follow the options). The 5% discount is automatic. You are asked to verify your educational institution when you make your order, by providing the name and a faculty/student ID.

Shipping kills this deal in my opinion.. stupid $90

How is the noise on an 8200 or 8250? My sister got a 4500 a little while back and that thing is essentially dead silent. If this 8250 is like that, I'm real interested.

Acoustics are the same for the 8xxx as the 4xxx - same case, same cooling, etc.

I have both the 4550 and an 8200. The 4550 really impressed me - it is DEADSILENT indeed (one cannot hear whether it's on or not). The 8200 emitts a slight noise - still very silent but not as silent as the 4550.

Does anyone tried using their own shipping carrier account for shipping from dell ?? I think we can save a lot by not choosing their shipping as they are charging $90 for ground shipping.

Also are these (8250) shipping from Austin/Roundrock-TX or from any of their warehouses elsewhere.

Thanks

Yes, all 3 rebates work together, there's no conflict. I called to make sure about this.

it seems that dell home doesn't allow you to use your own carrier. dell business allows though.
Dell EPP allows you to use your own carrier too, but I don't know anymore than that about it. Might be worth looking into, since $90 for ground shipping is a bit high.

if you are a student and are eligible to order throught the educational section, you can choose your own shipping carrier.

But

um

how does this work? Those of you who have designated your own carrier before, is this mostly for businesses? Not sure how to go about it

If you go to techbarg, and follow directions, you can get a version of this machine down to $99 plus shipping and tax. You have to be a teacher or student (seems like most of you are in this group) and many rebates, but I spoke with a customer service supervisor about an hour and a half ago and confirmed that this is a totally legit deal. She said you just had to make sure and order it properly. The deal is good till midnite.

Dimensions are usually put together in Nashville and shipped out of there.
