Is it just me, or does Amused argue by macro cutting and pasting quotes from some corporate propaganda site? Ive never seen a more worthless poster on ATOT. Time to look for an ignore feature.

Did you find the ignore feature? It's not too hard to find. I think it's under profile or something. However, I don't see how you qualify him as a worthless poster.

Because I disagree with him and can actually make a reasoned argument supporting my positions.

The people did choose the president.

The court merely decided an election dispute was invalid... and they were correct. To say the court chose the president is simply false.

The obesity epidemic didn't start until the 80s and really took off in the mid 90s. There is absolutely NO correlation between fast/fatty foods, and obesity. In fact, fat consumed per calorie has DROPPED since the late 70s.
True. True. I was just attacking his argument directly. Personally, I blame high fructose corn syrup. I cut that out of my diet 3 years ago and lost (and kept off) 20 lbs. in 3 months.

I could be wrong, but I strongly suspect you're fooling yourself. Did you replace EVERYTHING, and I mean every calorie of HFCS you consumed with comparable sugar intake? Probably not. You merely cut your total sugar intake (including HFCS), and therefore your high GI carb intake (i.e., empty calorie intake).

Hmm... you're probably right. I refuse to take dieting so seriously as to monitor everything (and don't have to either, I'm currently a very trim 170 @ 6'2"), and I know that it is virtually impossible to avoid HFCS entirely (in fact, I'm drinking a little now with my rum and coke ). So yeah, it was probably just a large reduction in my total sugar intake.
Good advice for anyone. People just eat too goddamned much. I know I have always had a high metabolism and can pack it away, but the portions some people eat just make me go :Q . Screw fast food, you go to a decent restaurant and the plates are 18" x 12" x 6" deep of food.

Actually, no. I was playing devil's advocate here.
AND, in 2003 (I believe), the FDA finally declared caffeine to be an addictive drug.
Furthermore, caffeine is added to quite a few foods. Why? Is it for the flavor? Or is it for the purpose of providing that little boost (which the drug provides.) See Pepsi, Coca-Cola ingredients if you have any further questions.
Thus, it's *already* happening.
And, ask anyone accustomed to drinking a cup of coffee in the morning how hard it is to give up that habit... it rapidly leads to headaches, prompting the person to restart the habit. Ditto for many pepsi drinkers. It's addicting.
Firstly, caffeinated Coca-Cola tastes better than decaffeinated.

Second, I went from a daily caffeine intake that approached 2,000mg (a can of Coke is roughly 45mg caffeine) down to less than 40mg cold turkey. I experienced no headaches nor any other physiological effects. I don't take any caffeine on weekends if I'm not working (if I'm working, I'll generally grab a free pop from work now because I'm too cheap to buy a drink with my lunch), and I don't suffer any physiological effects from withdrawl on the weekends either.

In college, it was not uncommon for me to drink several pots of very strong coffee (one night I drank something like 4.5 litres of Mountain Dew) in an attempt to stay up while writing papers. I would promptly fall asleep after finishing the paper and sleep like a log until my alarm went off.

Caffeine's not addictive. Not in any serious way. It's a pseudo-drug at best. There's no way that caffeine could support the level of addiction necessary in your scenario.

This is great for me, now we can go ahead with mass marketing of our new choco-bacco candies. They are all natural, completely vegetarian and contain less nicotine than a pack of cigarrettes. Choco-bacco: It's what the popular kids eat for their lunch!

I am going to be soooo rich.
