Maybe Smith will update the Jan.6 charges.
Everyone has always assumed he would, just that he was trying for expediency on the Trump charges in order to get them done first.

DOJ doesn’t decide trial schedules.Yup case on indefinite delay 😢
Edit. CNN reporter had asked question to Garland a few weeks ago about DOJ not typically announcing new investigations 90 days before the election. “Well this case is on going.” So would they hold this trial in the fall?
Actually my bet will be their ruling will be ‘Trump isn’t immune here but we reserve the right to declare other actions immune based on criteria we will make up when the time comes’.Unless they want Biden to order an airstrike on the court they basically have to decide against immunity but the question is how long it will take to come down.
Conceivable Chutkan could still hold the trial in August or September though.

Among the views of the potential timing implications there is what I like to call the absolute maximum chaos option where Trump is convicted and elected on the same exact day:
Well, this delay with all the Fani Willis stuff should basically be his get out of jail free card at this point.
Teflon Don strikes again.
Actually.... Trump is not president until he is sworn into office. On the other hand, the New York federal case is probably going to be most likely completed before the election. The case really only relies on documents rather than some physical acts.Well, this delay with all the Fani Willis stuff should basically be his get out of jail free card at this point.

Jury selection in his NY criminal trial starts next month.

Just because the case is happening in a blue state does not mean the juryselection is going to be tainted. Furthermore, the jury selection does not allow those with personal connections or vindications to be a juror in the case against Trump.Let me guess?
We got him?

There are two cases in New York State against Trump. One is a federal case and the other is not. The one with no jail time has already been decided. The federal tax case does come with jail time.I'd have to refresh my memory, but wasn't this case not associated with any jail time?
The tax case is not Federal?
And his lawyers basically argued 14A only applies from being sworn in as POTUS. So when new congress is sworn in, they can disqualify him before he gets sworn inActually.... Nope and since king Trump will rule forever and ever and ever and ever you better leave these forums and country before the coveke secret police find you.Let me guess?

Potentially up to 4 years though IIRC prison time is less common with the charges. He'd still be a felon however.
