Please. Trump is an anomaly whose cult of personality failed to prevail. There's nobody to replace him. If you think there might be, name them.
You didn't think Trump would get elected. These types come out of nowhere and as we can all see, they don't always make sense. They don't have to make sense. MTG for example would probably get 71 million votes, same as Trump.

If I had to put money on it I would say Jhhnn is right, I mean, I can see Cruz trying like hell to prop himself up, but he is retarded bronze cow at best. The thing is, even if its a little percentage, fraction of a percentage, chance that some trumpian motherf'er comes along and is able to rile the base up maximum... consequences be HUGE if it hits. And I am not sure the odds are that low (fraction of a percentage).

Need 9 more....
Wait.. Manchin is a nay but Romney is a yay?

Nah

But could it be a brick in the filibuster wall?

"Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), who has repeatedly expressed opposition to eliminating the filibuster, in an interview "seemed aghast" that Republicans are set to block the commission, Politico wrote.

"So disheartening," he said. "It makes you really concerned about our country.""

Don't be so quick to think it couldn't happen again.

1. Americans always fail to learn from history
2. Republicans currently hijacking the election process in so many states. Don't like the SoS certifying the election in a given state? Just turn over that job to the Republican legislature.
3. Show up at the state capital and just start attacking, kidnapping people and stage an insurrection. After all Republicans have the Ron Johnson defense

to my understanding all 50 D’s are aboard with Manchin choosing his words carefully and Mitt is the first republican on board. Thus 51 of 60.
Maybe I am wrong
Kamala?

Plus, the next "Trump" may not be "Trump" but he will certainly be smarter, more cunning and not blabber the secret part out loud as much as "Trump." did.

Kamala only votes when it is a tie, you cannot have a tie with a 60 vote threshold.

intersting thing will be if Liz Chaney supports it because this commission has a good chance of torpedoing mid term candidates.

Gotcha.
So. It will take Manchin waving the filibuster around for them to cross over. Not happening. So its just wasting time until it returns to the House and Pelosi puts something together herself.

or Manchin votes yes for commission as in all 50 senate democrats vote yes plus 10 other senators, now 9 with Mitt on board.

Yes. And that is what I am predicting will NOT happen.. Unless Manchin threatens to rip the FB. So. Back to Pelosi.

You mean you are starting to get a clue, Manchin?

Which, in this case, is actually fine. The Dems would be firmly in control of a House-empaneled Select Committee whereas they'd have to work with bad-faith Republicans if the compromise commission actually passed the Senate. I'm personally *way* more concerned with Manchin and Sinema's unwillingness to do something about voting rights' filibusters.

I care about his "concern" about as much as I care about Collins.

Is there an angle where, if bipartisan, it would get more cover on conservative media? Fox, newsmax, oan etc? Or is that the ~same? Cause yea, going the rounds and getting the rejection all around means "see, we tried" and now dems get to do it THEIR way. If GQP'ers were smart they'd jump on it.
