Very populated areas that have traditionally poor and underserved communities, primarily because of racism, will have violent crime due to socio-economic issues that have a longstanding history. That has nothing to do with being in a democratic city, in fact the most dangerous cities are in the south, besides Baltimore.

I have no idea but I believe that what you saw tonight was an attempt to get the kind of cover without which he is afraid to act. I believe that it is the nature of liberals like him to be morally afraid of offending his opposition by getting into the mud with them. I believe he is stuck in the past in a time when compromise and good will between parties could still get things done. I believe he is afraid of civil war and violence on the right if a serious attempt is made to hold the Republican party accountable for its crimes, and all the while with the growing realization of wiser people than him that those times are like water under the bridge. I believe that if Trump is not brought up on criminal charges and the party that has supported his efforts to overthrow the election, instead of a possible violent Civil war we will have a fascist state instead. I believe the longer Trump is not brought up on criminal charges the sooner that will happen. I believe this is so obviously so that even he will see it and that criminal charges are coming.I wasn't going to watch this because I thought it would just be a combination of depressing and boring. I assumed it would be a rehash of the evidence already presented at the Senate impeachment trial of which I saw 90%. But my wife cajoled me into watching it.
I encourage everyone to watch Liz Cheney's opening remarks. They are packed with bone chilling facts I hadn't heard before. Just take one example. Trump senior advisors pleading with him to stop the riot, and citing the fact that rioters were shouting "hang Mike Pence!" And Trump responding with "maybe they got it right, Pence does deserve to be hanged." That is, I assume, sworn testimony of one or more Trump advisors.
