This brings up the awkward questions, would Democrats rally to save Trump or would they prefer President Pence.
If Trump was "saved" by Democrats would he replace a bunch of cabinet people with Democrats?
Interesting thing to think about.

/shivers at the thought of Pence as Pres. But even though he is a creationist bible thumping saddle bagger I would take him over tump anyday.

Paul Ryan: "Guys! Guys! WTF are you doing? You're not even TRYING to hide how eager we are to buttfuck America!"
GOP: "Hey, it worked for Trump!"

That thought seems to be uppermost in your mind because it appears in many threads. It hasn't gotten old, yet.
The only people I hope get screwed harder and faster are people like you who actively promote this shit, but I'm sure you're living comfortably somewhere in some corporation drooling over the possibility that you'll be able to bleed your consumers dry much faster soon.

Haha, Trump has weighed in to tell the GOP to stop being so fucking blatant.

Let me build on what you've stated.

Two articles are linked in the OP but only one is quoted.

Getting into the habit of posting multiple sources per item.
CNN updated their link so what you are reading today is different then what they posted last night.

I seriously hope the entire rust belt crumbles into a fracking sink hole.

You know, I try not to think this way, but I cannot blame anyone who does. I see the election of Trump as a great big middle finger to the people who are working for civil rights, the middle class and the poor, LGBT rights, accountability in government, etc. etc., basically every value I hold.

And not just 'effectively' a middle finger, but deliberately a middle finger. There's a handmade sign that says "Trump - Winner" stapled on telephone pole 10 feet up near my house in PA. I've never seen the winning side so anxious to rub the other side's faces in it. They are full of contempt and hate for us, for no reason at all, and I just don't blame anyone that throws their hands up and says 'fuck me? fuck you'.

Now Paul Ryan apparently supports the move, and Trump opposes it. You can't make this stuff up. Probably all coordinated. It's good cop/bad cop.

Trump doesn't oppose it. He opposes it being the first order of business.

Trump's supporters do seem to have taken their verbal and emotional cues from Trump himself. Even before him though I've always been interested/shocked by the visceral hatred and demonization of liberals that comes from conservatives. They don't just think liberals are wrong/misguided/stupid/whatever, they often think that liberals are actively working to destroy the country. I don't know if you saw what werepossum wrote about progressives the other day, but he said that he believes that progressives are attempting to turn people into state property and that they 'unrelentingly insist' America was an evil nation that was among the worst in the world. Although that view is totally insane I don't think he's alone in thinking it. (and remember, this is from someone who styles himself as a moderate!) If you genuinely thought your opponents were attempting to enslave a country that they loathed and attempted to debase at every opportunity wouldn't you revel in their defeat?

This sort of thinking isn't unique to the right but it's far more prevalent there than on the left. I guess this is the result of decades spent in the conservative media bubble.

I keep thinking of all those confederate flags and the refusal of a large part of the country to confront its own history. I heard a story the other day where a political leader in the South said that a statue dedicated to civil rights would be too divisive, but cities across the South are littered with Confederate monuments. Contempt for PoC includes the people that stand up for PoC, contempt for LGBT includes the people that stand up for LGBT, and that has expanded to include to the entire American left, the press, and anyone that tells them they're wrong.

http://www.cbsnews.com/news/donald-trump-bashes-house-gop-move-to-weaken-ethics-watchdog/

The house majority leader, Speaker AND president elect are ALL railing against the move made by their own party?? Are they basically powerless to keep their subordinates in line or are they actually ok with it and are just attempting to save face?
But, you don't hear Trump saying it's wrong. He also doesn't realize they have to do it before the new Congress is convened. He knows nothing about how anything on government works..

Well Trump isn't actually railing against it, he said he was fine with them gutting the ethics office he just thought it was the wrong time to focus on it.

So basically it was 'be corrupt LATER, not NOW!'.

Do you guys read your own words? This thread is extremely narrow minded and hateful, with the worst parts coming from people who claim to be open minded.

Claim racism and bigotry all you want, but I'd be willing to bet this thread is a much better example of why trump won.

And the House Republicans just yanked their proposed move. I don't buy the line that Trump was rebuking them (if you read his tweets it's more a question of priority than denouncing it as wrong), but I think they realized that gutting an ethics committee was too obvious.

Right now, the Republican party strikes me like a kid who somehow got control over the school cafeteria. "Free pizza for me and my friends all day every day!" It's so entranced by the prospect of getting everything it wants that it isn't stopping to think about restraint and the long-term consequences. It's not as if the party will suddenly be a bastion of integrity with the reversal, but it realizes that it has to at least maintain some oversight if it's going to be seen as vaguely legitimate.

Please elaborate! I always like to read the attempts to say 'Trump won because liberals said something mean about conservatives'.

'Calling racists racist is the reason Trump won' is the most tiresome concern troll.
