Dems should nominate Bobbert for speaker

this makes sense.

instead of just enjoying the show, dems should throw some gasoline into the fire and pit Repub against Repub by offering a deal to McCarthy.
and tell him if he rejects it, they'll offer the same deal to Bobert or Majory Greene.

more hilarity will eschew.
set them up for failure. it's all about 2024 elections because the next 2 years is a lost cause anyway

A question I'm asking myself is whether if neither side will budge, the least insane Republicans will settle for a seditionist or a liberal. Can you imagine. Looks like Stan got Oliver in 'another fine mess'.

Some members won’t be in attendance tomorrow. Let’s see how this affects the vote count. Yeah so far, neither side wants to budge. It maybe a sneaky vote that finally gets passed several months later.

This comes down to....
Do you want dog shit, or dog shit mixed with horse shit?
Because either way, in the end, all we get is shit.

Scenario one:
Greene sitting beside McCarthy smiling their asses off, with McCarthy granting Greene full run of the house.

Scenario two:
Gates, Boebert, Gosar, Lune, and those other 16/17 running the house.

Neither scenario will ever EVER agree to raise the debit ceiling.
Neither scenario will ever EVER agree to prevent a government shutdown.
Neither scenario will ever EVER agree to protect Medicare and Social Security.
Neither scenario will ever EVER agree to lowering the cost of life saving medications.

So where does this get us? It gets us to no where....
Folks, shit is shit no matter how you mix it, or no matter with what you mix it with.
And all we will have with this new republican controlled congress, regardless of the leadership, is a whole lot of shit.

Not only will America experience prolonged government shutdowns, America will in fact face having no government at all. None. Nada. Because THIS is exactly what we will get from both shit scenarios running the house. And these house republicans can and definitely will succeed with destroying the entire US government because just look at what they are capable of doing now, in the house, with simply electing a house leader. Both combinations of shit more than willing to just burn it all down. And again, why? Because they do not and never have believed in government in the first place. Proof? January 6th 2021.

There is no win here, not for democrats and not for the middle class and definitely not for people depending on healthcare, medicare, social security, or affordable medications like insulin. Under either scenario, It comes down to crazies #1 or crazies #2. Crazy door #1 or crazy door #2, and that's it. There are your choices.

I really really REALLY do hope that Americans realize this reality as their soon to be reality. And as we all gloat and snicker over the current republican state of disarray, eventually this shit show will indeed hit the fan.
America.... cover with shit.

Way too far into the minutia of the US system for me to have any opinion about, but Robert Reich thinks the Dems should back a "moderate" Republican (Fred Upton or David Joyce, he suggests). Didn't realise there _were_ any moderate Republicans, myself, but probably preferable to ongoing chaos (that "littlehands" Trump can climb like a ladder).

I suppose the moderate (aka reasonable) Republicans aren't known/recognized as well by name, because they aren't ever the idiots hogging the spotlight, braying insanity. They aren't making the news with soundbites like the maroon brigade, so you don't hear about them simply trying to do their jobs.

And IMHO, Reich is a pretty smart, level-headed, and realistic guy.

I mean he is inarguably right about Twitter. If people think Twitter shouldn’t moderate that’s fine, if extremely naive, but the government has no place in saying that due to the first amendment.

Regardless, I find it very unlikely the next speaker is elected through mostly democratic votes.

Republican Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) may be inching closer to securing the votes to become speaker after three days of House Republican infighting — but at what cost?

-McCarthy weeks ago: Vote of no confidence on the Speaker is a red line he wont cross

-McCarthy this week: Caved to 5 Repubs needed for vote of no confidence. New red line is 1 Repub can call a vote of no confidence.

-McCarthy yesterday night after house adjourned: Supposedly agrees that any Repub can call for a vote of no confidence.
His reasoning: If any of the 5 main holdouts wanted to call a vote, they can easily get the other 4 to join in.

I think my original prediction will end up right. McCarthy will be speaker because there’s nobody else but he will be completely neutered. He’s not liked, trusted, respected, or feared and you need to be at least one of those things.

oh.. it's jan 6... Happy Repub Insurrection Day

Today Dems troll Senator Josh Hawley (Repub) with video:
Hawley was the first senator to announce that he would challenge the 2020 presidential election results when Congress convened to count to electoral college votes.
A campaign video released by Kunce also features footage of Hawley’s raised fist to the protesters outside the Capitol on Jan. 6 as well as footage released by the House Jan. 6 committee that showed Hawley fleeing rioters who had breached the Capitol that day.

Why arent the Dems trying to make a deal with the male Repub that was on the Jan 6 committee?

i'm sure there are 5 other less insane Repubs that would go along to get 218 votes.

Or was he no re-elected?
