I don't quite understand, though. AFAIK, the dems support Ukraine aid, and also at least 2/3 of repugs do as well. Sure, the so-called "freedom" caucus doesn't support Ukraine, but that's like 20 members. Is the probem that the crazies are going to invoke a no confidence vote unless McCarthy uses his powers as speaker to block a floor vote?

Edit: now 2 votes against, and 1 present (Crane and Biggs voted for others). As they vote alphabetically, Matt Gaetz is next up on the holdout list is expected to still be a hard no.
Will come down to Good and Rosendale - if both vote present, I think McCarthy gets in by a hair if I did the math right & no one missing or switches.

I think 217 will now do it, only 433 members available/voting after Boebert's "present".

4 no's, 1 present, Gosar and Gaetz missing? either one as a "no" blocks it, both as present (or for McCarthy) gives McCarthy the win I think

Edit: Looks like Graves and Harder also missing so far from vote call (1 dem, 1 republican), which lowers threshold to 216 if they're not around, but doesn't help McCarthy as Graves was in his corner
