One needs a majority of the actual votes. If one votes present, that lowers the threshold. So safe to assume no GOP will vote him. So he’s stuck with 212. There’s current only 434 members (one seat vacant from death). That means if 11 GOP aren’t there or vote present, Jeffries will have the majority of the votes. So this is what I’m thing the never spineless one may try. Just leave the house floor in one of the rounds. Make it very close to scare the spineless one to actually drop out.
Problem is future committee assignments would vanishDems just need to convince 6 repubs to have an unforeseen bout of diarrhea during one of the vote counts in order to push Jeffries through, right?
As long as they don't have to be on record as voting for the evil liberal, should be fine?

I’m saying future R leaders would ban the defectors from committees. All committees and this is where representatives want to be. I’d do the same if someone stepped out of line that much.No so Muh Hunter Biden investigations?
No Hunter hunt, no investigation of the investigators, no Committee to investigate the Committee. But maybe most importantly for GOP House members no handicapping of the Office of Congressional Ethics. No so Muh Hunter Biden investigations?
I don’t think that office could get more worthless.handicapping of the Office of Congressional Ethics.
I think this is the right way to look at it… a continuation of the insurrection.

Just think, if McCarthy had worked with the Dems to expel the Congressional seditionists who participated in Trump's attempted coup, he would be Speaker now.
Probably not. D's would have likely kept the majority. Not by replacing those cackling hyenas, but from the PR of those removals driving more votes to close races. Only needed a few.
Dems will probably wait until dinnerHow many are we going to see today?
