There's another reason he didn't do it through the "proper" channels. He had something to hide, didn't want to pay adoption costs/fees to an agency, didn't want to be exposed to the vetting process, etc.

Whatever the reasoning...only an 11 year difference between him and his 'son'? Kid was a teenager and he was in his 20's. An adoption agency might question that. That doesn't happen by birth to a biological parent. I'd question the life experience of a 20 something year old to to raise and care for a teenager.

Something just feels off about the story.

I've heard the arguments put forth by Christian fundamentalist on slavery and horrible things in the old testament and why they don't matter. The problem is Jesus says in Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." And where are the 10 commandments that so many Christians believe in? The OLD TESTAMENT. An so, most Christians love to cherry pick the bible and make it say what they want. Take for example the belief that "Jesus is love" that so many Christains believe in. The problem is he is quoted in Luke 14:26 “If any man come to Me and hate not his father and mother, and wife and children, and brethren and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be My disciple." The problem with the bible is you can make it say anything you want. That is a HUGE issue for the bible. Its why we over 45k Christian denominations today worldwide.
