Why don't we just vote back each and every little thing caused by the slim down while were at it, but still call it a slim down? That will make it more palpable for the little people while we haggle over price.

What horseshit. Those motherfuckers better be at work on Monday morning then, every single one of them. Not just the DoD ones.

Okay, my only question is how much ink do these little suckers hold, especially for my Canon BCI-21 cartridges. A few drops for $1.70 or so just doesn't cut it ... gonna email them and ask. Did you use their toner or inkjet cartridges?

They can't be, they're locked out. Google Pisgah Inn.

Of course they would. Sacrificing is out the door. Everyone wants everything with no cost attached. This is in our society and necessarily also in politics. The politics resemble society.

They can't go to work. There is still no appropriation; it would be illegal to go to work with no appropriation in place. Congress still hasn't done its job.

Ok so then why does Hagel state most can return next week? They are being paid now and need to work for that pay. If it's good enough for most DoD workers to return then why not everyone else?

Hagel is relying on the Pay Our Military Act, 2013 that creates an appropriation for the following categories:

fiscal year 2014 are not in effect—
(1) such sums as are necessary to provide pay and allowances
to members of the Armed Forces (as defined in section
101(a)(4) of title 10, United States Code), including reserve
components thereof, who perform active service during such
period;
(2) such sums as are necessary to provide pay and allowances
to the civilian personnel of the Department of Defense
(and the Department of Homeland Security in the case of
the Coast Guard) whom the Secretary concerned determines
are providing support to members of the Armed Forces
described in paragraph (1); and
(3) such sums as are necessary to provide pay and allowances
to contractors of the Department of Defense (and the
Department of Homeland Security in the case of the Coast
Guard) whom the Secretary concerned determines are providing
support to members of the Armed Forces described in paragraph
(1).

Why Hagel changed his interpretation of the act today to cover more workers, I don't know.

Just before the shutdown occurred congress passed law that would allow the military to still receive pay. Essentially, Hagel and the DoD took a week to further determine that it can apply to civilians as well. The law left the application of it somewhat open to interpretation. First thought would be that he did it for political reasons (maybe from WH pressure?). Nonetheless, people are gonna be able to go to work - which is a good thing.

So, the Repub HOR forces shutdown of govt services, but initiates a measure to pay govt employees for being furloughed.

I thought they wanted to save money, not pay for nothing. My mistake, I suppose.

It's good to see that Republicans have principles:

"We're going to fuck the country but please don't vote us out because you didn't get paid. Here's your money for staying home on vacation. We're out to fuck the country but nobody that might vote to get even."

Or they just figured it was cheaper to pay them directly than to pay them unemployment?

LOL, no it isn't, not even close. If they figure that, they don't know what the hell they are doing (and I mean BOTH sides when I say that). This is a PR stunt, period, and an expensive one at that.

Obfuscational lameness of Denial. Dems wanted them to keep working so that we'd receive the benefit of their service. To my knowledge, none have claimed to be saving money while paying for nothing.

They recognize that federal workers don't deserve to suffer as a consequence of a Tea-twit hissy fit, that they'd be at work doing their jobs if allowed. Paying them is an admission by Teahadists that they shouldn't have been furloughed in the first place.

Maybe it's a Teahadist plot to get the votes of govt workers by providing extra paid vacation time, huh?

Not to mention that they'll get overtime pay to catch up when they do go back to work...

If this is how the Tea Party makes sense out of things, they've got a lot to learn.

You are cute with your little "Teahadist" trying to put them on the level of a jihadist. Just remember, you are the one who defended Bill Ayers. That behavior is acceptable but not the Tea Party.

What's wrong with calling them Teahadists? Both groups hate America and have worked tirelessly to bring Her to Her knees, they only use different tactics.
