How can a small group of people bring all the other people down? Have these small groups of people brainwashed and weakened the rest of the people? If so, then it might make more sense. We're blowing everything out of proportion. Humanity as a whole is on a slow but continuous downhill spiral. These groups, whether they are the Nazis, Tea Partiers, Democrats, whatever - they are a tiny problem. Humanity as a whole is falling so that's what we should be worried about it. But then again, we form this humanity.

We tend to think in groups - tea party, Democrats, Republicans, right wingers, left wingers. Why do we have to belong to a group? Are we so scared to stand alone?

And America is only as "good" as its people. It's not some creature standing on its own.

Yes, or like other people who solely believe in pure physical existence - that everything else is pure fantasy. There are fanatics on every side. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people belong to a group, whatever it is. That always leads to dependence.

You are right Matt, that is exactly how you feel, that you love America. You believe America is good and that any attack on America is an attack on the good. This is exactly what I call bigotry, the irrational inability to see that the absolute goodness of love has been unconsciously associated with a concept via propaganda and programming as a child before one learns to reason and analyze. Love is good, but when you unconsciously associate it with a concept like race, religion, nationality, party, etc., you become a tool and a danger to the good. You have become blind. You can't see that the absolute goodness of the good does not mean that America is absolutely good in all the ways you were taught to believe. You have rejected rational criticism because any defect you might want to consider about America becomes unconsciously associated with an attack on the good.

These are truths you simply can't see because you can't believe the good isn't good. Of course the good is always good, but what you THINK is good may not always be. You can't look deeply into things because you feel the good is under attack. It's profoundly funny, but it's also so sad.

Everyone here should calculate how many days a year they toil for government in it's various forms. Power centers always demand more power and they always sacrifice the people to gain more power. The real reasons for the all these problem are not the Tea Party, Democrats, Republicans or whoever. It's the general decay of the minds and hearts of people. It's this way throughout the world and will be. Look at it: 100 years ago in America: tons of problems. Today: tons of problems despite much, much greater education and technology. There is more education but the minds of people are still dependent, tribalistic, shallow and generally not very healthy. Unless we deal with this, no amount of education can help.

Categorizing people into neat little groups like Tea Party or Democrats or Republicans doesn't really accurately deal with the main issue.
