Every PC case I've boughten always arrives bent or a dent makes it difficult for a panel to sit properly. I just wanted your opinions on if acrylic cases are worth it for this matter. If you have any other suggestions, I'm open to hear them as well.

Thanks...

Acrylic cases are really only good for display purposes in stores, trade shows, science fairs, etc., not for a day in/day out workhorse PC. They offer zero RMI/EFI shielding, are hard to keep clean and generally are not great coolers. Nor do they generally make any cosideration for draining off static electricity which needs a good low-resistance path to a true earth ground.
. But I know how you feel. My Silverstone Berserker came with several of the legs that hold the front bezel on cracked or broken. OTOH, I've gotten several other cases all the way across the country from Newegg with no problems. So next time try an Antec - I hardly ever hear of shipping damage with them and the SLK3000-B is one of the best cases period (if you don't like a front door, go with the Compucase 6A19 instead). Were less than $50. shipped from some resellers.

I have the Antec SLK1650B right now. I did have the SLK3000-B but the door came broke from shipping and the panels were all bent. I put up with it for a while but I eventually broke down to get a new case. All my cases have been Antec but something always is flawed. I know bending is probable since it's a thin sheet of metal but I wish I could strike it lucky once.

Thanks for all the info on acrylic cases. I won't think one more thought of getting one.

Most of the EMI talk/grounding is bs. On the other hand I can fully attest to the fact that dust can be very obvious. If you think that litle dings and small cracks bug you then you'll be seriously pissed with acrylic cases, cuz there are tiny cracks EVERYWHERE. I did make an acrylic case my everyday computer, but I spent a lot of time on it and it is very showey. Not to mention the fact that carrying it to lans isn't very fun (playing with the lights once its set up is though ). Sounds like your making a good decision unless you wanna spend 5 hours getting wiring organized pics

You should not have tolerated that much damage on your 3000. I know filing a claim is time consuming, but there is no excuse for that much damage.

Thank you Zepper for the info on acyrlic cases.

To the OP, I have two Lian-Li mid towers and I went with them not to be up scale but because they were 2mm thick aluminum. Most steel cases are 1mm and are not as stiff as 2mm alloy.
I would get any case to your liking that is 2mm alloy as it is eazyer to modify if you chose to do so and aluminum being porus in nature has a sound deadening effect, it maybe minimal but it does. Plus being stiff it does not dent easily.

Newegg used to list thickness in their search but didn't for me today, go figure....

I shopped, paid $95 for one and $75 for the other. The cheaper one does not have a removable tray...Might try Ebay...Best to ya..

Bona Fide, all the cases that I've boughten have been Antec and I get all my PC items from NewEgg. I guess I just had karma smack me one ...

Back when I was looking for a case the first thing I wanted was one of those cool, ricer acrylics that I saw in magazines and at websites.

Of course, I then looked into it, and read about the lack of EMI shielding, dust buildup, fragility (is this a word?) and the works. In the end I decided against it and got a V1000B. Good move on my part.

The Kingwin 424 series are very nice aluminum cases and they have 2mm metal like the Lian Li mentioned above as well as more of the modern conveniences. The 2mm metal gives up one of the potential benefits of an aluminum case (lighter weight). These days of ever higher shipping costs should cause us all to consider weight when doing the homework for a purchase.

I'm a hard core modder and I would have to say, don't even waste your time with acrylic computer cases unless you think they are cool. I don't think they are cool. It's so dumb.

Just my 2 cents.
