Did you plan ahead and forego the leather option ? Or do you just bring extra towels ?

At least sports cars move fast while they guzzle gas, unlike the stupidly slow SUVs and minivans I always get stuck behind on the interstates, driving in the left hand lane at 3 mph over the limit.

Don't forget cell phones... as if they are somehow correlated.

People that drive huge vehicles that can crush mine like a grape while they are chit chatting and not paying attention to what they are doing disturbs me greatly.

I guess we should ban semi's from the road too. I'm sure UPS can switch to a fleet of civic station wagons.

I have an SUV and its awesome, there is lots of benefits to having one. In fact there is many more pros than cons. Gas is not a big deal, if it is to you than apparently you can't afford an SUV anyway, so why trash everyone else for buying one? The whole cell phone thing, well people talk on cell phones in cars, trucks, SUV's, and etc, etc, etc, get used to it. The driver has to be responsible, not the vehicle they drive.

The funniest thing about people who complain about "excessive wastes" of owning a SUV are the very same who strive to always own a bigger, better house. Or a greener lawn. Or nicer clothes. etc etc etc

You sir are an Idiot, what the hell does that have to do with Gas? just because you don't like them doesn't mean that every person that owns one is a complete and total moron, wth do you care?

No semi's serve a legitimate purpose.

Psst..............I was driving that Blazer that blew by you like you were standing still. Not all SUVs or minivans drive 3mph over the speed limit in the left lane, bucko. And I've personally been behind more than one sports car that refuses to move over to the right when I come up behind them....guess sports cars have more right to hog the left lane than SUVs....especially when the sports car is slower.

Ok so now the generalization is that most/all SUVs drive slow while most/all sports cars drive faster...

If/when I do drive aggressively in my truck (and it's pretty often as I have no patience), others see me as a maniac SUV driver who thinks he owns the road. But it'd be perfectly fine if I did it in a sports car right ?

When will [ignorant] people realize that it's the type of driver and not the type of vehicles ? I drive the same exact way in the Accord (but it sux cause the pickup is slow).

Kthxbye.

My MDX is practical for me.

The ability to seat 7 people and have AWD are the reasons why I needed to get the SUV. Granted I don't always have 7 people in the car but I've got 3 adults plus 2 child seats and there is no way a car could hold us without being uncomfortable. I had to give up a big sedan because it wasn't cutting it. On the fuel economy side, I get 24mpg on the highway and can reach over 27mpg if traveling at a constant 60mph. Then you get days like today when its snowing like mad in NYC and you'll know why people need AWD.

Waaaah. They are exceeding the speed limit so there is no reason why they should not be in the fast lane.

You can drive what you want in France. With the high gas prices and additional taxes for high cylinder engines, most French people can't afford to drive big cars.

yes, let's base all life's choices on other people's perception of practicality.

It's amazing that we were able to function as a civilized society before the advent of SUVs!

Yes, its my perception, but I believe that it's an accurate one. Do the vast majority of suburbanites who own a SUV REALLY need it?

I purchased my 4Runner about 9 months ago. About 2 weeks ago the wife and I became first time homeowners. She drives an Acura Integra.

Which vehicle do you think did the majority of the moving?

Which vehicle do you think we take on Lowe's/Home Depot runs for various things?

We save gas where we can. We take the Acura out when we are just going someplace. My wife uses the Acura for work (she drives farther than I do).

I may even buy a daily driver for myself if I feel it would save me money in the long run.

The 4Runner stays, though! It's just too damned useful!

No, that is a very silly thing to say.

If your SUV is faster than most sports cars I I'm certain that it is getting even worse gas mileage then those same cars.

I guess no one was alive her during the 70's.

The majority of people who buy SUVs today were alive and kicking in the 70's during the gas crisis.

No, it's not a generalizations, it is simple physics. If the SUV is getting the same gas mileage as a sports car, and the SUV is twice as heavy, it's going to be a lot slower.

My point was that in a sports car you gain performance by sacrificing fuel economy, in an SUV you sacrifice fuel economy just to compensate for the size of your vehicle.

I fail to see the connection between owning an SUV and fearing death....
*I* own an SUV because I'm afraid the sun will explode.

i pay $0.013 per gallon for water at home i think, i need to bottle some up and sell it to SUV drivers
