Intel G2 160GB SSD just under $500 in dec 2009.

And now I have two in raid 0 and they are still running solid.

$240 for a 60gb Corsair Force gt in 2010. Paid a good deal less for my 180gb intel ssd last year.

Looking at replacing my 180gb soon, thinking a 500gb Samsung evo would be about right.

I've always paid around 50 cents/GB for my SSDs.

About $200 for a Intel x25-m 80gb in 2010, I think. Hoping we'll see 2tb drives soon, so that I can finally move my obnoxiously loud storage hdd to an external enclosure.

Patriot Warp 32GB, $150 on 10/25/2008. Old Jmicon controller so was dog slow for non-sequential writes. Then bought a 64GB OEM Samsung SSD as well off eBay for like $200 a few months later. Pretty crazy how far the tech has come. Was cutting edge stuff at the time, though, or at least as cutting edge as I could afford. Can't remember if the Intel drives were out yet at the time or not.

I bought a Crucial C300 256 GB SSD shortly after when they came out for around $475 and I'm still using it today, so although expensive I think it was a good purchase.

I'm talking about compared to today's pricing. I don't regret my first SSD purchase at all but looking back it's kind of funny to see what a beating I took.

Intel 320, 120GB - $225 from Buy.com

Now you can easily get twice the capacity for half the price and a much faster drive as well.

Crucial C300 256GB SSD - $600+ about 4 years ago. Got it when it was first released.

Paid about $110 for a much faster Crucial M500 drive of similar capacity fairly recently.

Crucial M4 120GB for $220 a few years ago. Still in my daily gaming machine and runs like a champ. Finally pulled the trigger on a new Samsung Evo 256GB for $130 that will replace it (need more space).

About $90 for an M4 128GB.

My most recent SSD was also 128GB, at $85.

:hmm: I guess not bad...

^^ and we have our answer. 10 days later the MX100 comes out at $99.99 (tigerdirect).
I'll console myself with the fact the extra speed would be wasted on my SATAII, that I don't need the extra 16GB (currently used: 9GB with all my apps installed and a 4GB pagefile), and it's still cheaper per GB.

Bought a 60 GB OCZ Vertex for $250, I think it was. Died within 4 months. Didn't trust OCZ, so got my money back and went to Intel X25M at the time.

Since then, I have purchased
- Samsung 840 Pro 256 GB
- Samsung 840 Pro 128 GB
- Intel 330 80 GB
- 2xCrucial M500 120GB
- Samsung 840 Evo 250 GB

Damn, that's a lot of SSD's. Over the same period of time, I have only purchased 2 HDD's (for the NAS)

lol my first ssd was engineering samples of the X-25e...
I paid 0 dollars for it ... but it was only 32GB.

I still have it, and i use it as a cache / Temp.

The first SSD i actually bought was probably the C300, which i paid i think 500 dollars.
But at the time i was very happy with the purchase.

After months of recommending Crucial M4s, I finally got a 128GB one back in early 2012, for $177. It's still working great.
