How can anyone actually believe that life starts at any time other than the moment of conception?

There is a difference between life, and a person. Nobody disputes that life doesn't start at that point.

If you think it's wrong to kill life, I certainly hope you don't eat plants or roll over in bed for the fear that you'll kill the dust mites which inhabit it.

Without getting into my personal beliefs on the matter, Ryan sums it up pretty well.

But then that begs the question, when do they become a person?

Agreed.

However, humans love to justify things to make their actions look 'ok' in their eyes.

"It's not sex because President Clinton says so."
"What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas."
"Abortion isn't killing since it happens before the fetus is a born baby."

You can't be serious... from the moment of conception to the moment of death there is one entity. Development does not change what something is. From conception to death a human being is always a hunan being.

So morning after pill = murder?

I sometimes think about why contraception is consider okay in the minds of many, but abortion isn't. Theoretically you're still likely ending a human's life - just before it ever really begins.

You fail at personhood arguments, please educate yourself. I can recommend some good philosophers if you're interesting in being able to actually have an opinion of your own.

So aborting a "fetus" the day before it would've been born is not killing a person?

BTW, this thread really belongs in P&N.

Then I hope you collect every skin cell you shed, they have the potential to become human.

The morning after pill is intended to prevent an egg from becomming fertilized.

You take a pile of sand, 500000000 grains big. That's a pile. If you take away one grain, is it still a pile? If you take away all but 5 grains, is it still a pile? Lead analysts say yes.

Contraception prevents life from having a chance to form. Without the contraceptive, a life may not have formed. If one had, which sperm would have succeeded? Nothing has started, yet. Life does not exist, yet.

Abortion stops a life that has begun.

Again, you fail. If an egg is fertilized, the morning after pill will prevent it from attaching to the uterine wall, causing the cell to die.
