How can I find the cheapest flight to Amsterdam?

Okay, i've used the standard flight search websites and aggregators and the cheapest roundtrip is around $630, i would love to get it for around $500 if possible. A few questions. Are there any deals out of major east coast airports like atlanta or nyc? Maybe I could get a cheap southwest flight to that airport and then fly out for a lower total cost. Are weekends really cheaper? I have been flexible with my dates and time but still no luck. What about waiting? I'm guessing the price will just go up unless there are last minute deals (not really an option b/c mutiple people are going but do not need to sit together) Any other suggestions?

Thanks so much

I don't know. But you have me thinking I'd like to go there. I've only spent 3 days there and I had a good time.

One time I had one of the greatest flights in my life. Nonstop from Seattle to Amsterdam in the mid 1990s on Martinair.

Thanks a bunch guys. I looked into student packages, and even if I could get the right dates the price really isn't a discount compared to shopping around for flights.

St. Louis (stops in New York on the way there and back) to Brussels - Mon March 19th to Tuesday March 27th on Continental Airlines. $304 + $108 taxes & fees = $412 per person

Then hop a short train from Brussels to Amsterdam and you should hit under your 500 target

Thanks. My dates would be the 9th (Friday) through the 18th (Sunday) although i would like to not miss more than two days of classes (So thursday the 8th through monday the 19th isn't really an option.) I checked COntinental and the prices for those dates are higher, obviously because of spring breakers. But, flying into Brussles might be a good idea if it is cheaper.

Prices are higher because Friday-Sun is priced higher than Monday-Thursday for this route. Thursday March 8th to Monday March 19th is 412 after taxes, all the weekend days are pricing higher for this route no matter if it's now or late March. They do have a 1pm Departure time from St. Louis on the 8th though. Other than that I doubt you're going to find anything else without some real creative routing.

Thanks MixMasterTang, i think that is the best I'm going to get. I;m still trying to get some people together. The only issue now would be how many of those seats do they have and how much longer willl thet be available

I know Lufthansa is having a discount on flights from the US to Amsterdam right now but it ends the 24th. Houston to Amsterdam is a little over $500 and I think there's a few flights even cheaper.

I ran across this site over the weekend. I was pretty impressed with it. Shows the timeframe you ask with the flight prices for individual days.

Old thread so I don't know of you're still looking.
