Hi
I am pretty good at keeping spam from my main email acct but when I had to get food stamps about 4 yrs ago I started filling out the forms online which seemed to me that I was at the right website. After adding all my info its seemed like the website was asking other questions about different things like health coverage and bottom line is I did not want to get any info so I ended my session as best I can remember from that session.

Shortly afterwards I start getting these email for all kinds of spam content and at first I tried to unsub to them but pretty sure just letting them know hey my email address is good sp lets keep send him spam.

The thing is that because of the way keep changing who the email is being sent from all I be able to is use my Pop Peeper program to keep adding the email to my ever increasing blacklist which does not help due to them keep changing the address they sending on I guessing some spam program that making new addresses to send to me and there list.

I was hoping that they get tired or put out of business but I still having to delete 20 to 30 emails a week.

I am assuming I am stuck with this spam on this email address but really like to be able to keep using it as its tied into many years of service and accounts on the web.

So I going to post this now to see what I can do going forward TIA!

I dont have great recollections of the fist time this started but will answer what I can.

Even as I was posting this I got my 2nd of 3 spams email I get almost daily so thought I post header and links here in this post

If they always come from the same domains, just add those domains to your blocked sender list. If not, see if your mail provider has any spam blocking features you can enable, or use an email client that is able to filter spam (like Outlook or Thunderbird).

Spammers don't get "tired" because it's just an automated program sending the junk out to all addresses on the spam mailing list. And yes, clicking that unsubscribe link just confirms that your address is valid and active and it will then be sold to hundreds of other spam mailing lists as well.

How do you access your email? Through a client on your computer or just log into your account with your browser on the web?

As I posted I use Pop Peeper to keep track of 5 email accounts so I can be notified on my mail every 5 mins.

I also use Outlook 2013 for saving my email and doing other things.
Here is a screenshot show Pop Peepers Junk mail settings....

see if I can get this dropbox link working....

If you use Thunderbird you can install the addon abusix spam reporter and then right click the E-mail and report it as spam.

I keep a tight lid on most E-mail and just use a few Yahoo accounts for other BS so those get the most SPAM which is collected in the Yahoo spam folder. But for some reason I was getting spam in my Comcast accounts. So I found abusix and ever since I reported them I haven't gotten spam.

If you use Thunderbird. Also check out Dr. WEb anti-virus checker.

If you happen to be using POP instead of IMAP settings for Outlook then K9 is an excellent spam filter. I used that for years when i had various ISP email. It's no longer supported but works great though i see it doesn't support SSL so that might be an issue.
I'd probably still be using it but i just don't get spam anymore.

Check it out.

I am assuming I am stuck with this spam on this email address but really like to be able to keep using it as its tied into many years of service and accounts on the web.

You will have to live with spam sent to this address. You can still use it if you want. You can also have multiple accounts, this one for logins and crappy services, and a new one for genuine communication.

An address ending up in a spammers lists is a one way street. You're not going to get it out.

If you want to start with a new address you could look up address aliases, and use them liberally. Your account can be firstlastname@gmail.com, and when you sign up to e.g. Ebay, you could tell Ebay your address is firstlastname+ebay@gmail.com. Ends up in your regular Gmail account, but if Ebay sold user addresses to spammers, the spammers would get your +ebay alias. If you get spam sent to it, you know Ebay was breached or sold your address. If an alias is tainted and you don't need it, you can create a filter to delete all mail sent to that alias.

Of course, it's trivial to take a list of addresses and strip aliases like these off, so you no longer know a spammer got your address from Ebay. Still, it can help. Considering how heavily spammers rely on automation, you'd be surprised how little they care about such details.

Also, if someone who has your address in their address book is compromised, your address could end up on a spammers list anyway. Bottom line is don't think of e-mail addresses as valuable, they are disposable. If you value your e-mail address, keep it to yourself (which completely negates the point of e-mail). If you're going to eat dinner from the same disposable plate for the rest of your life, you will simply have to spend time carefully cleaning it.

I was finally able to get Pop Peeper which I use to check my email on 4 accts by adding a rule to it.

The email was seem as spam anyways so now when it comes in it stays in in its own spam folder and its tagged for deletion which happens on next mail check.

Thats good enough for me and I can continue to use same email address.
