How can I NOT have space in between tracks when burning a CD?

So I'm about to burn a CD of a live concert I downloaded (yes, it's perfectly legal, this concert is not available for purchase anywhere or anything, and was put up on the web by the artist himself). Anyway, I know that by default, my CD burner will put a few seconds of space in between tracks, if it is available. Since this is a live CD, I don't want that to happen, I Just want the tracks to be played continuously. However, I still want them separated into tracks, so I can go to a part of the CD I want (i.e. One huge long track is not an option).

I have an HP Cd-writer 9100, and I'm using the default hp writing software that came with it. Any ideas how to make it so there isn't any separation between tracks?

Add in your tracks, and then select Disc-at-Once recording, as opposed to the Track-at-Once that you are using now...

I know that in Nero, it has a column in the CD layout that says "pause", and it's default is set to 2 seconds. If you highlight the songs you want and right click into properties, you can change the pause time. I'm sure you can find a similar function in you software. good luck.

Are you sure this is in the HP software? Because I could find no such no option...

Nope, couldn't find anything like that in my software, and I'd like to avoid cluttering my hard drive by downloading more programs, if possible.

Yes I checked the help section. I am using HP RecordNow 3.5, when I first posted this thread I was using 2.0 (MYCD) but I have since updated, and I still can't find that option BlipBlop mentioned.

Maybe you can use a wav-editing program...put all the files together end to end, then just burn that one file onto an audio CD

he didn't want to have one big file, but if you have space, it might be a lot easier to just get Nero instead of trying to do it with software that it might not be possible to do. You will probably save yourself a lot of time and a lot of headaches just getting another program.

Even when selecting 0 seconds for pauses with Nero, you can still pick up a slight pause in between tracks. I recommend you make CUE sheet for the long MP3 and burn it with CDRWin. I think Nero supports cue sheets now, but I'm not sure.

hmmm... have you tried using another program like Nero or EZ Cd creator? I've heard that HP software is pretty lame, really dumbed down.

Just out curoisity... whats the concert?

As DanFungus said, I don't want one big long track.

What are cue sheets?

Will EZ Creator allow me to do this? Someone else just said that Nero will still allow a slight pause between tracks, which I really don't want. Will EZ CD allow me to have absolutely no pause between tracks?

One more thing, does EZ CD-creator have this "disc-at-once" option y'all speak of? If so, anyone got a link?

Yup, you can get it here - The demo version only lets you burn at 1X though

And this has a disc-at-once option, yes? And how long does it take, give or take, to burn an 80-min CD at 1x (I'm alomst afraid to ask).

Yeah but what they described is that it doesn't work very well, you can still hear a pause?

I don't remember exactly, as I haven't used EZCD for a while, but I think in the burn dialog you have to click the advanced button to reveal the option of TAO & DAO. Default is TAO, so you know what to do

If it's not there, try searching the help file for "TAO" or "DAO" and it should bring up some texts on how to get to it.

Is this the program y'all are talking about? If so, is there a demo somewhere? I can't find one anywhere, and these people sure are full of themselves to charge $100 for a program that doesn't seem to do anything but burn CD's.

1x wholly molly. that burner must have cost 15k when it first came out hehe. but if your tracks were converted to mp3, i don't think you can truely make totally gapless recordings. tis the nature of mp3 not a biggie, you'll just hear a tiny pause of something between the audience roars

Ouch, someone needs to get a sense of humor
I didn't make the connection of 1 cycle/sec=1 min of mp3 data=1 min burning time, and you chortle out "lmao at all newbies." If you act like that to people in real life when they ask this sort of question, I'll bet you have no social life whatsoever. I was trying to be humorous about it, (note the winking eye and the "just kidding"), cause we all have weird snaps like that sometimes, but now you're just tossing out cheap insults.

JohnJohn.

I have EZ CD Creator 4.x and there IS an option for you to select "Disc-at-once" which will burn all the files w/o any pauses in between.
