How can I rip a phone book in half?

i went over this guys house yesterday and after some horsing around, we can to a deal that i would get $50 bucks if i can rip a phone book in half ($75 if thru the binding)... i was wondering anyone had any training tips or techniques on how to do this. i'm gonna head to the sports authority tomorrow, and get one of those grip things that you squeeze to strengten your grip. but other than that i haven't thought of anything else to help... besides practicing.

so for anyone who has ripped a phone book in half, let me know how it's done.

You sorta gotta bend the pages first. That way, when you go to rip it, you rip only one page at a time really...

Hmmm, make the back cover of the book bent in a U shape, and have the front cover flat. All pages in between should be a progression from the U shape to the flat shape. Rip by pulling on the front cover first, ripping it, and then making the next page flat, then that one rips...

Open the book up exactly half way, and rip the damn thing down the spine. We have these little ass phone books here, but the bigger ones shouldn't be too much trouble. You don't mean ripping the pages in half do you? I think that would be impossible unless you don't have to do it all at once.

and im talking about a big city phone book..

I believe the way you do it is to bake the telephone book in an oven first.

i can't bake the phone book... this has to be done fair n square...

i'm a pretty big guy, i can bench around 250 and i have pretty strong hands, so unlike some of the nerds on this board, i think i do have the physically capability to do this...

anyways, im off to practice rippin up phone books!

There was this team of guys who came to my highschool about 10 years ago where one of them did it. I really doubt you're as big as these guys were. 250lbs on the bench was a warmup rep for them. I've got a buddy who benches 250 regularly and there's no possible way he could tear a phone book in half.
