How can I run a credit report on someone else's credit

I am planning on renting out my house and before renting it I wanted to do a credit check on potential tenants . I've googled around and all I see are sites that let you check your own credit score. I'm new to this process, I am able to find some rental application forms online but I can't seem to find any info how do the credit checks. I was wondering any landlords/property managers here on ATOT that might have some advise me. - Thanks

I've been able to find a few sites online and they seem really shady. The last thing I want to do is get someone's identity stolen. I'd really appreciate a link to a reputable site

Wouldn't you be able to do it on FICO.COM or any of the Credit Agency as long as you have his name,dob, SSN,current address and previous address? That's what they ask when I check my own credit report.

Ok, I think I've got it. It seems that you have to fill out some form required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act and they have a inspection done on your property to ensure that you are actually a landlord and not someone involved with a identity theft scam. Once the form and inspection are done you can then run the credit checks. I've tried googling "Tenant Screening Services" and found a bunch of sites that will do it once the paper work / inspection is done. Now the only question is which site should I register to. I've found a bunch of sites like the one below and I definitely don't trust that url.

First of all, this is not a 'Hot Deal' - you'll likely get flamed for using the wrong forum & a mod may move or delete this subject.

That said, I use www.mrlandlord.com - they provide a decent credit report for a fair price. Be prepared to set up an account & info about yourself before doing so, tho - they've got to make sure you're not a fly-by-night operator. I think the first one or two credit reports you run are free (in theory) once you've set up your account. FYI, you can't run a credit check on yourself.
