I have had the Samsung Galaxy S10 for about 3 months, and I have 1-2 small sctratches on the screen. You can't really seem them unless you look at the phone from the side. Yea. I should be using a screen protector, but I don't like them. I haven't used one in years. I had the Note5 for 4 years and I didn't have a screen protector. Eventually, I dropped it and a crack developed. I lived with it for the next 2 years before I upgraded to the S10. Anyway, what have you guys done to get rid of the micro scratches that devleop when you're using your phone all the time? Did you use the toothpaste method? Banking soda? Or, is there a product on Amazon that you would reccommend?

Thanks.

The S10 comes with a screen protector already installed I believe.....at least my S10+ did when I bought one new directly from Samsung 4 months ago or so.

I really haven’t found anything that really works. I don’t use screen protectors and remove any pre-installed protectors after a few weeks when I stop thinking of the phone as a new born baby. I get scratches and just accept they will happen and live with it.

The only fix that I've seen that works is total screen replacement. That's exactly why I use a screen protector.

I've been using a screen protector on my iPhone 11 Pro Max for ~8 months now. I absolutely HATE it. Typing is extremely inaccurate.

I totally agree! But I can live with the trade off!! But I do believe they make screen savers in various thicknesses!

I have the same issue with my 11 Pro Max. I've learned to type slower.

I doubt that's the screen protector. A few of my family members also have that iphone, with no screen protector, and they complain all the time about how crappy it is to type on. That's one of the reasons I jumped ship from CRapple many years ago. They suck at everything EXCEPT promotion, which they are geniuses at.

Pretty sure that's just familiarity bias. I noticed a distinct difference after applying the protector.

Pretty sure you're wrong about that. I hear it from colleagues at work, and from so many people at the tech shows. Funny how myself, and those friends who have the S10+ and Notes don't have the same complaints...

Couldn't possibly have anything to do with confirmation bias. No, sir! No way.

You shouldn't have a touch responsiveness issues with either Galaxy S10 or iPhone 11 Pro. Apple has done great work with using a 2:1 touch sampling to refresh rate to improve the experience and the Galaxy S10 up their's from 1:1 to 1.5:1 and the S20 using the same 2:1 as Apple now. And there are many other factors and improvements Apple and Google, and Samsung have done to make modern phones super responsive to touch. I don't think the S10 or iPhone 11 Pro are to blame if there is any touch sensitivity problems. Definitely familiarity with the phone goes into how well you can type on it. I switch phones quite a bit and there is always an adjustment period for me to relearn how to type on that particular sized screen and keyboard.

If the screen protector is causing problem, the iPhone has a Touch Accommodation feature under Accessibility settings to help with screen protectors that might be impeding with touch.

The only reliable polishing agent I know of for removing light scratches from glass is cerium oxide. It's a compound specifically formulated for polishing glass that jewelers use. I use it to bring automotive glass back to as new condition because it does not leave any swirl or spiderweb markings using a made for glass buffing wheel mounted on a 4" random orbital polisher.

It's not very expensive and not toxic if handled safely. Apply a little on a damp cotton ball and work it into the glass, wiping away frequently to check if scratches are removed. It takes a little practice to get the results you are looking for however I never experienced damaging glass from its use. YMMV

edit - forgot to mention that toothpaste has mild abrasives in it that may do the job but I've never used it for reconditioning glass surfaces, I just read about it many many years ago in a copy of Popular Mechanics.

I have the newest public release of iOS (released ~1 day ago). The "Touch Accommodations" screen doesn't seem to have any relevant options.

Hold Duration
[OFF]/on

Ignore Repeat
[OFF]/on

TAP ASSISTANCE
[OFF]
use initial touch location
use final touch location

No use to me. Doesn't seem like any of these options compensate for inaccuracy relating to use of a glass screen protector.

The screen protector that came preinstalled with my S10 saved my phone. When I made this post I had no idea that Samsung had screen protectors put on all new S10 and S10 plus phones. I had no idea until a coworker told me this. He has a S10 plus and informed me about this. Those microscratches were all on the screen protector. Also, I accidently dropped my phone and it fell face down on the pavement. I was using a wallet portfolio case, but I didn't have it closed when it hit the ground. The right side was bubbled up, and it looked very riggid/scratched. I thought that was the screen, but it was just the screen protector. I got home and peeled away it away to find a perfect screen. Zero scratches. Like new.

I have since bought the LK screen protector. A 3 pack. I just put one on.

all my tablets / laptop / phones always have a screen protector.
I try to use a "tempered glass" where possible, although i really doubt its tempered glass just by the way they shatter and break.

On my notes i use whitestones when i can, however some of them are not really case friendly with my urban gear / basion cases, which again, all my tablets / microsoft surface / phones always have.

I am somewhat clumsy with my phone so i never assume i won't drop it.... because reality check... i will drop it.
This is also why i tend to get the phone / tablet a little late, so cases can catch up, as i will not use a cheap rushed case with a $1000 phone / tablet.

Has anyone tried SiO2 coatings on their phone? I guess the big question would be whether it's any harder than the glass already on the phone and if it affects the touchscreen.

They don't work.
Ive had many friends who thought they worked and keys will rip that screen appart.
