How can I tell what variation of X800 card I have???

I thought I had bought an ATI X800XT. It was an OEM pack and thus no fancy box or anything - just an antistatic bag, the card and the driver disk. Now there was a sticker on the bag saying X800XT I am pretty sure of that BUT....

I actually built the rig a few weeks ago, and having given the system time to burn in a bit and make sure everything is stable, I have been OC'ing and doing the 3dmark 05 e-penis measuring thing over the last few days. currently I am up to 4200 ish and was comparing on the site today the other setups and clocks.

When I pulled up my project - I was horrified to see 3dmark has it down as a plain old X800 and not an X800XT. The clock speeds were 500/500 (I hadnt got round to even looking at OC'ing the gfx yet as I am still trying to max out my CPU) on my 3dmark project.

Soo - I am at work and cant see the physical card itself right now, nor my home PC. Having a quick skim through the net its actually impossible to find a site (even ATI's) that says definitively how to id the cards for sure.

So what should the clock speeds be?
I know it has 256mb ram (but can I ID by the memory chips?)
It may say in device manager but I know they can be detected incrorectly if the clock speeds arent right (well this was the case with 9800's anyway)
And I cant check the the Pre-POST screen because it has dissapeared by the time my monitor wakes up.

Any help on a definitive method or application that will 100% ID my card would be greatly appreciated before I go into the shop and have a shouting match

What kind of rig is this card in? It may be cpu limited. Download RivaTuner or Everest for more info on your boards bios readout

ps the 3dmark comment seems about right

RivaTuner will tell you how many pipes you have, but judging from the clockspeeds it is an x800xt.

Well Riva tuna (deliberate cr@p pun) says

256-bit R420 (16x1) with 256MB DDR3 Memory

Is the 16 the number of pipes? and thus confirming its an XT?

If this is an X800XT then arent I seriously underclocked?

Thx

pro - 12 pipelines 475 core 450 mem
xt - 16 pipelines 500 core 500 mem
xt pe - 16 pipelines 520 core 560 mem

also, on the xt's+, the memory should read GC16 at the end of one of the codes, which means 1.6ns memory

16x1 and 500/500, that is an x800xt by all accounts.

The driver cd that came with that card is grossly outdated, download the 4.9 with the hotfix (8.07 beta's) And it should boost it around 5600.

Thx folks - yeah I found ATI Tool which I remembered about and it specifically says in cold hard english 16 Active Pipes I thought though from my memory an XT was 520X560 clock or something like that? Or is that just the PE? Either way I will prolly aim for that on the OC - may as well get another question in here..... is there an app that hardcodes the OC of the card so I dont have to have some utility running all the time?

Thats good enough for me

On the drivers - I am running vanilla 4.9's atm - with no hotfix cos I thought that was just a fix for one game judging by the readme??? What are 8.07 beta's like??? rome Total War and Joint Ops are my major concerns

*I'm asking retrospectively as I am downloading them as I speak Weird numbering though.... 8.07??

NICE! Me like the 8.07's

1st Run 3dmark05 everything stock speed (CPU and GFX) ....... 5765

2nd run ........ OC'ed the GFX to 510/510................................. 5591 ...... WTF!

Anyway I'll prolly just run stock after such a nice driver boost

Device manager and 3dMark still say its only a X800 ??? Ah well I am happier now than I was b4 My e-penis is has adequate girth and length to please all but the most used e-lady

The 8.07's address a memory allocation bug with all 256MB cards, i think they were only using like 128MB before, so in high memory apps like 3dmark05 and doom 3, performance is GREATLY enhanced.

I was lucky enough to buy the Saphire X800 XT off of newegg.com a month ago when it was going for $469 before they sold out. Don't worry about the Device Manager saying it's only a X800. Mine is like that also. I'm only getting 4104 in 3D Mark 05 with the 4.9's. I'm gonna wait for ATI to release the official 4.10 drivers. Hope I see as much of an improvement as you did Seeruk.

Get the 8.09 beta's now mate - I played RTW, JointOps, World of Warcraft, and doomIII last night all without issue and with lotsa extra fps Your score is similar to mine before I upgraded drivers - Makes a massive difference. i cant believe ATI actually had drivers out that crippled the card by 50%!!!!
