I live in a town where almost nobody is registered Republican, in an extremely blue state (CA). I pay attention to the news. TFG is such a POS it's hard for me to understand why anybody would vote for him. The R party has sold its soul. They are vile, will do utterly unconscionable things for money and power. Biden's a decent man with decades of experience in service to his country.

How can there be all these red states? Why are there even swing states? It boggles my mind.

This occurred to me while reading this article, and particularly the reader comments. This link will work to get through the paywall for 14 days, i.e. until June 25, 2024:

You live in a VERY blue bubble. Drive an hour and a half east into the Central Valley, you start getting into a reddish area. Go a couple of hours north or south from there...it gets redder and redder the farther you go.

They live in information silos of ignorance, bigotry, fear, and being good little sheeple that are easily led where the shepherd wants to lead them.
They're happy, have good lives, and have no desire to harm anyone. I understand you can't accept that because of your belief system, and I'm fine with that. But did you ever wonder why no one ever comes hear to talk about how much they hate liberals?
I already know your answer.

They have no desire to harm anyone except the gays, the trans, the immigrants, the women, the poor, non-Christians, the libs, etc etc etc.

I saw seven Trump flags in a ten minute drive to the grocery store an hour ago in South Texistan.

And every one of those Trump flag wavers think it's completely A-OK for Trump to be their pick to lead the most powerful nation on the earth even though among a host of other despicable words and deeds he is notoriously known for, he is a convicted felon, a tax cheat extraordinaire, an adulterer, a chronic liar, a lousy businessman, a guy who thinks it's OK to steal top secret national security documents and data, who disparages our military and intelligence services, our wounded veterans and those who were KIA'd as suckers and losers.

And then they have the utter gall to have to make shit up about Biden and the Democrats to "even the playing field", to try to make their enemies look worse than themselves. So sorry that they have nothing positive and constructive to say about themselves, about how they've done nothing but try to create havoc, panic and despair out of thin air in lieu of admitting they've got nothing else to offer the people of the nation because every agenda they're pushing for is unpopular with the majority of voters.

That's one hell of a tiny mole hill to stake their ankles to, especially when all they've got to fight with are lies and hoax conspiracy fairy tales.

At this point, I am done feeling any sympathy for my wanna be oppressors.

They can all go play in traffic and eat shit as far as I care at this point. Pre-Trump? I had sympathy. Now? Less than zero fucks.

The multiple mental menstruations his supporters have gone through that's been force induced by the Propaganda Arm of the GOP that enabled their worshipers to compel themselves to be disbelievers of the damning facts of Trump's arrogant disregard for the rule of law and the principles of democracy that identifies who we are as a nation is awesome and equally terrifying in it's severity.

The GOP's resurrection of the Frankenstein monster they needed to have their villagers rally around got out of their control and now they have no way of controlling it other than playing nice with it while showering it with the love and affection it interminably demands from them. Trump is much more inhumane than not and his record as being afflicted with an obvious case of antisocial personality disorder is irrefutable.

The American Horror Story that's not found in the Sci-Fi section of the federal gov't book store because it's all to real and all too stupefying in its magnitude.

You need to get out more. You clearly live in a very sheltered bubble protecting you from the raging ignorance, bigotry, misogyny, and racism that is too often a family value, justified by religion.

The church guy said that all I needed to wash away all my sins is to tell the invisible man in the sky about all the bad-bads I've done this week. This Saturday, 1) I ran over a puppy, 2) Boinked my underage cousin, and 3) Rolled coal on some yuppy in a Tesla. But hey, I told God about it, so I'm good now.

I've had a lifetime full of hearing all the ways nice friendly folk (some of them my family) hate liberals.

It's all horseshit. Currently they think NYC and other cities are being occupied by armed "migrants" and you can't walk down the street without being mugged. They think immigrants sit around all day doing nothing while gobbling up welfare; that is completely bogus based on any immigrant I've known. They think colleges are some leftist, marxist training yard where students are forced and brainwashed to to hate America. Again, complete shit. Students everywhere are free and encouraged to think for themselves (and that of course is bad, because they might begin to question good ol America's policies and Jesus both...)

You think they want to have an honest conversation about their grievances? The hell they do. They want to rant, and score. I've had many such conversations, most of them around the time of the Iraq War part deux. Rant, rant, rant, and any facts or news that went against what they already "knew" to be true was fake. And anyone going that way hated America and was branded a traitor, hated the troops yada yada. I should know.

One that cracks me up is the "green agenda", I hear that from the right these days. That nefarious liberal environmentalism that wants to save humanity's place in the ecology before we are toast. The planet will endure; we may not. How evil of them. Meanwhile the fossil companies are buying up influence like there is no tomorrow, which is a-ok.

And hey--if your marriage is hurt by gay people also wanting to tie the knot, your marriage is shit. Just sayin'. And wasn't a big complaint about gays always that "they are promiscuous!!"

In short the kindest word I can say about rural people complaining from afar about "liberals" is that they are ignorant. And they can't say they aren't trying to hurt people, when they vote for the party that expressly is trying to hurt people. You can't have that cake and eat it too.

How many of these States have poorly funded Education systems and/or high Home/Private Schooling? Some, I'm aware, have both.

Are Student Exchange programs still a thing? A Domestic version with some noble purpose about Unity and that kind of thing might help take the edge off the ignorance.

I'm glad that they don't want to harm anyone but can you help me understand then why they would vote for someone who is very open about his desire to harm large numbers of people?

Who does Trump want to harm?
Tons of people.

Here's a few real quick ones:

I can go on providing examples as long as you would like. It's weird that you would ask that though considering Trump is very open about his desire to hurt people and talks about it publicly all the time.

I don't want to hurt anybody but will eagerly vote for the party who would send the gays to the gas chamber if they could is certainly a thing.

People tell themselves all kinds of lies.

Remember when Trump wanted to paint his border wall black so it would heat up and sear the skin of anyone who tried to climb over it?

He was really excited about the prospect of people being burned too - what a sadistic psychopath.

Remember when the Trump admin COVID response sacrificed hundreds of thousands of additional lives for the sake of political expediency and culture war? Nah he totally cares about people and doesn’t want to harm anyone though.

The lurid detail he went into about that stuff put on display his quite clear penchant for sadism. Yes, Trump is a bad person who wants to see people suffer for his own amusement. It is undeniable.

Greenman: Trump doesn't want to hurt anyone.

Trump: Oh man I can't wait to hurt people and police should hurt more people too.

Regardless, here's another fun one where he fondly recounts reporters being hit by tear gas and rubber bullets.

Maybe you can help me out here though: what evidence would you accept that Trump wants to hurt people? Be as specific as possible. If the answer is 'I won't accept any evidence' you can just say that too, it's fine.

Always an excuse. "Oh he tells it like it is! But not that. Or that. That was obviously sarcasm. He was just joking! Reads like hyperbole to me."
Also funny how quickly that transitions when he actually does it. ‘Well, he told you and he does what he says’.

Schrödinger’s statements. They are both jokes and true at the same time.
