I'm 32 miles from Pilgrim in Plymouth, yet it takes about an hour to drive there because you can't get there from here.

Didn't realize I'm also within 100 miles of Seabrook, Millstone, & Vermont Yankee.




Just noticed their map ignores Yankee in Rowe, MA.


I wonder how many more it ignores that are closed but still dangerous nuke plants?

5 miles from Three Mile Island. I lived in Middletown during the 1979 accident. I went by everyday on the way to work. I noticed that morning that there was a lot of media present and no water vapor coming out of the cooling towers. Had no idea there was an accident until I got to work and they announced it to us. We never really knew how bad it was until much later. A lot of people left the area, especially those with kids, But being the young dumbasses we were, my friends and I decided to drink heavily and shield ourselves with aluminum empties. We're all still alive somehow...

Hard to think how it will even affect because even until now it harmed no one. Ok, now think back of the things you have done in the past that would have much more likely to killed you...

The university in town has a small research reactor, TRIGA Mark II. Not sure if that really counts.

Closest large-scale power plant is Wolf Creek, few hundred miles away I think.

I clicked on the power plant next to me, and in the little blurb it said "SAME CONTAINMENT SYSTEM AS FUKISHAMA PLANT IN JAPAN"

Wow, fear monger much?

Should be a good thing since the containment at Fukushima seems to be working fine.
