how close is your sub to your tower?

going to purchase a speaker set with a good sub, leaning towards logitech.
thing is, the sub will have to be basically next to the tower.
do i have to worry about the magnetic field generated by the sub?

Shouldn't be an issue. There is enough metal and other materials between the HDD and the sub to prevent any problems.

magnetic field power drops massively within even a small distance. never mind through a case. i wouldn't put an unshielded big sub ontop of a pc though lol

lol its all good. its a shitty logitech like 3in. sub. the whole 2.1 system was 20 bux including tax at some computer show. the sub already has a huge hole on the button of the speaker from all my "bass-full" music haha.

my M-Audio LX4 subwoofer is within 1 inch from touching my tower... all is good

I would worry about a powerful sub shaking the computer hard and affecting the HD that way long before I would worry about the magnetic field effect on it. and that would be a might big sub indeed

I wouldn't worry about the subs on any computer speaker system being too close.

The problem with speakers and transformers was that they could interfere with the magnetic fields in CRT monitors, causing video noise or distortion.
