Now, I suppose you say the same thing about any other fast food burger joint, right? Hell the same thing for any restaurant burgers, right?

Well, the thread is about McDonald's; no reason to expect he'd lump in the rest of the burger joints with it, even though they are all the same...

The question is why the unique and focused hate of McDonald's.

The comical thing about this are the people who will say exactly what he says, and then say they like BK, Hardy's/CJ or Wendy's.

Well yea, I agree that there is particular hate for McDonald's. The thread should really be titled "How come everyone hates McDonald's more than x/y/z."

The most obvious reason for the hate, though, is because it is easy to hate the best known fast food place on the planet.

It's not easy for me... but that's probably because I don't let fads and fashion rule my emotions. I don't let other people tell me what I should like and dislike.

I didn't say it was easy for everyone, just that it is the most likely reason. Logic doesn't necessarily apply when people answer a question with emotions in mind rather than facts.

I don't eat fast food at all, I don't go to BK, Hardy's, or Wendy's, pretty much they all suck and are terrible for you.

Just trying to say that I have a general distaste of all fast food, not really a focused hate on McDonald's.

I don't go there because they make a big deal if you want any hamburger/cheeseburger plain. I don't feel like waiting 5-10 minutes for a plain cheeseburger brought to me by people who look as I insulted their whole family because I ordered it plain.

I do occasionally stop there for chick mcnuggets but prefer other places over getting the above attitude more than once.

And neither do. Like I stated earlier in this thread, the name McDonalds is synonymous for Fast Food Joints for many of us who are aware of how bad that food is for you if eaten on a regular basis. When I say I don't eat that unhealthy crap at McDonalds I mean I don't eat fast food period (Wendy's, KFC, Taco Bell, etc..).

Luckily for me it wasn't much of a sacrifice to not eat that crap since that food tastes like processed junk anyway.

Your generalization is way off.
Any plain burger would take like 30 secs to make.
You may think I'm nuts but McDonalds has the fastest service of any fast food franchise in general.
While I don't doubt that you have had bad service before but MCDonalds standards are way above any other fast food joint.

Supersize Me was a propaganda farce. He could have got the same results by force-feeding himself with virtually ANY food.

I hadn't gone to McDonalds much for fifteen years, but publicity from that guy's book got me interested, and now I'm a regular customer.

lol I work there...that's where I'm getting funds for my new PC...

Before I went there though, I almost never went to McDonald's. I probably went there...maybe once every 6 months, but now I get free food and am trying to get bigger, so...yay!

That was for maybe 6 years, we used to eat BK and fast food every week because there was one day that we were busy, but we stopped after about a year. Now I'm as thin as a stick and don't grow even after working there for 6 months...

So I don't hate them, obviously, but I do think there are some other options out there...

I don't do fast food much anymore though, because for the same price of one fast food meal I can feed myself for a week.

yea right. i took my wife and my 10 year old daughter to arbys last week and the fricken bill was 27 bucks. i love arbys but they are the most expensive fast food around. and its just as fattening as burgers.

suppose I'm hungry for a cheeseburger..which is worse for the health ?

a. don't get it and deal with the stress.
b. get it and be happy

I noticed some of those eat healthy celebrity/authors die every now and then, maybe it was stress ?

I rarely eat there, however the Premium Chicken sandwiches seem pretty fresh and are very tasty.

The thing that really bothers me about fast food joints is the level of employees that work there. I get really grossed out of I see some 16 year old punk looking kid working in the kitchen, those places seem so dirty to me..

I had to wait at least 5 minutes for something plain on all occasions before I smartend up and didn't return. This was also at more than one franchise. Maybe they are different in this area.

When I lived around an In N Out I would say I disliked it so much I'd have preferred McDonalds.

Still, I kinda try to avoid all fast food.

The amount of processing and artificial ingredients added to the fact that cheeseburgers aren't necessarily healthy in the first place just really kinda makes it something to be avoided.

People who drink alcohol live longer on average than people that don't. Married people tend to live longer than single ones too. Some of the oldest people that I know (relatives that were 100+ years old) had eggs and bacon every morning for breakfast.

There is some merit to your theory.

you ever see what older people eat that live in the country?

when i was younger i would help out a old guy who owned a farm. i would get over at 6am for breakfast. it was Fried eggs, sausage, hashbrowns, steak, gravy etc.

yet they were healthy and active even at a old age.

I personally don't eat it because I find the food itself to be disgusting. I used to go there all the time up through high school, but once I entered college, I started paying more attention to my diet and exercise routine. I've become increasingly strict since then, and now I'll actually get physically sick if I grab something from McDonald's or Burger King. Even Chick-fil-a and Wendy's can make me feel a bit "off" on a bad day, although Zaxby's seems to never let me down with their grilled house zalads. Good stuff.

Anecdotal evidence is never good to go by. That being said, I'd imagine the people who lived on that farm were much more active than your average, city/suburb-living American, and so had less opportunity to build up huge amounts of congestion in their arteries.

Also, and this is a very large generalization, I'd say nine times out of ten, even if it is fatty, homemade food is going to be better for you than something from a fast food restaurant...less sodium and preservatives, fewer trans fats, etc. Plus, you also have to look at portion size.
